Default iPhone OS 4.0 and APN type mask

    Hi All,

Does it change anything from 3.1.x?

In other words this thread and this wiki are still valid?

    Thanks

Old carrier bundles don't work anymore... the format is probably changed (not only the type-mask value).

I just found out that on 4.0 the complete carrier.plist is signed... and because of that the old carrier bundles have no effect at all. Why would apple want to do something like that?!

Because they get money from the carriers for each customer.

Guess we need to wait for jailbreak and tethering/ipcc patch.

Well... they had a pretty good way to handle unauthorized tethering on 3.1.3 and still providing the possibility to create a carrier bundle for an unofficial carrier (and they have no relation to apple at all). If I own a factory unlocked phone, I expect to get complete functionality on any carrier.

Similar for me. Have factory unlocked phone. I use an carrier that is supported so I don't worry about this now but I want flexibility to switch to an unsupported loan.

    Thumbs down

I just upgraded from 3.1.3 to 4.0 Beta 2, and am disappointed by the fact that I cannot use cellular data anymore... I tried creating a custom mobile config file in iPhone Configuration Utility and installed it, but it has no effect. This is lame... However, I am impressed with multitasking, zoom (even though the pictures won't save), persistent Wi-Fi, custom wallpaper, and folders.

By the way I am using an iPhone 3GS on AT&T Pay As You Go.

4.0 it's beta. Stay away for further beta problems.
