Default iPhone doesn't restart at all and gets stuck at the apple logo

    Hello everyone.
As you know I've got an iPhone 4 with the 4.2 firmwire and I succesfully jailbreaked it.
So I accidently installed via Cydia something WITHOUT installing Installous (because I didn't know) and now my iPhone won't start up. The only thing it does when it "starts up" is getting stuck at the Apple logo. I've left it for an hour or so and it still didn't really restart.
So the only thing I have is either a black screen (when it's completely turned off) and when I turn it on (and even when I try to get into Recovery mode and whenever I plug my iPhone into my computer) it gets stuck at the Apple logo...
Oh and when it's turned off; and I plug the cable into my iPhone it automatically starts up and ends up getting stuck at the Apple logo.
And I can't see any devices on my iTunes so I can't restore it.
Can anyone help me? I've been trying to fix this for a couple of hours and yet I have no solution.
    I'm pretty beyond frustrated.

ip4 with fw 4.2.1 .... you need to run redsn0w and select the "tether boot" option. follow the instruction on the screen. The phone will reboot with a pinnaple image then it will boot normally.

Well I did that and it still got stuck. But I fixed it anyway. Thanks though. It happened yesterday too, but I fix'd that in no time. You may close this thread or maybe if other people have the same problem I can explain it here?

It sounds like you are after pirated apps, we aren't keen on helping people with warez/piracy.

As dtube said, it sounds like you came up against the tethered boot problem. However I am unsure why a simple "just boot tethered for now" isn't enough to fix this.

Please feel free to explain how you fixed this.

Well actually, Olethros, jailbreaking is considered legal so I'm not actually "pirating" anything.
So since Installous and "pirated" apps are jailbreaking-related, then that should be legal too, right?
Would be pretty weird if it was legal to have something, but illegal to use it.
But whatever, I'm going to write it here, oh and please keep in mind that this will delete your apps, music, videos etc etc. So make sure you've got a back up before doing this, unless you don't give a damn:

    1)Open redsn0w 0.9.6.b4
2)Choose your current firmwire (as it says on redsn0w)
3)Now you choose for the option "Just enter pwned DFU mode right now", don't choose for "Install Cydia" because we're not jailbreaking it.
4)Make sure your device is off! But since it only restarts and get stuck at the Apple logo, you should make sure your iPhone isn't connected to your PC (so don't plug in the other end of the USB cable to your iPhone)
5)In order to turn off device, simply hold down the Home button and the Power button, but DO NOT RELEASE the power button or the home button. After 20 seconds, your device should be off.
If not, wait a couple of mins (let's say 5 to 10) and do it again.
6)Now, you may plug in the other end of the USB cable to your iPhone, but DON'T PLUG THE WHOLE THING IN because it will restart again and you have to do this process again and again.
Make sure the other end of your USB cable isn't fully in your iPhone (I really don't know how to explain this in words but okay).
7)You must do this step really fast. Now, as quickly as you can you should plug in the whole thing into your iPhone and quickly click on "Next". Because if you're too slow, you gotta do it over again.
8)Follow the steps. (As it says on redsn0w, but I'll just tell it here too)
-"Hold down the Power button for 3 seconds"
-"Without releasing the Power button, also hold down the home button for 10 seconds"
-"Without releasing the home button, release the Power button
But keep holding the Home button for 15 seconds"
9)If you do this correctly, you've entered DFU mode, and if you didn't, you have to do this all over again until you've done it correctly.
10)Now you'll get a message from iTunes and it'll tell you that you're in DFU mode (or something like that)
11)Now make sure you've TURNED OFF your firewall BEFORE trying to do step 12.
12)Hold down Shift and click on "Restore" and choose the .ispw file (just choose 4.2.1; because there will be an untethered jailbreak out soon). If this didn't work, exit iTunes, turn your firewall off again (by turning it on then off again) and then open up iTunes again and repeat this step.
13)Now your iPhone will be successfully restored. (This process takes a pretty long time, so grab some food while your iPhone is getting restored).
NOTE: This WILL delete all your apps, musics and videos.
Is it okay if I provide a link for the 4.2.1 firmwire? (Non custom)

Nope, it is clearly illegal to redistribute a binary file without the explicit permission of the original author.

The laws pertaining to software piracy are clear and long established. They have nothing to do with jailbreaking (and it is possible to pirate iOS apps without a jailbreak). Your comments simply serve to perpetuate the myth that jailbreaking=application piracy.

    @bluelightn1ng,
i agree with Olethros 100% regarding jailbreaking not equal to pirating.
Apps are cheap (it's like buying a friend a cup of coffee) so buy it.

Your description above is a simple restore to stock firmware 4.2.1.
The forum already has a link to all stock firmware ... thanks for the offer though.

Okay then. But maybe I misunderstood you. I thought you weren't going to help me because it's piracy, but yet you helped the others who had jailbreaking problems, and people jailbreak their iPhones most likely to get free apps.
Also, I have a request for you. Would you please you less difficult words? (The one I bolded were the words I didn't understand ;P) My vocabulary isn't as great as yours. It's not my mothertongue and neither is it yours, but you're just plain better, haha.
I'm from Holland but that doesn't really matter I guess. (:
Oh btw, does "redistribute" mean that you're not paying money (or whatelse that has a value) for something while you actually have to?

Ohh well yeah but why bother to pay when you can have it for free?
I gotta admit, downloading can lead to a downfall of a company/store.

Ooh I didn't see it haha. Well, I got it fixed already and it just takes less than 15-25 minutes =D

Anyhow, this topic should be locked now =P
