Default iphone 4 4.2.1 1.59.00 stuck on Apple logo - tried a lot of other solutions, in vain

    Hi,

Thanks for all the advices from this board, I tried most of them, and unless I'm really stupid, they did not work for me.

I already had this problem in the past and it worked. This time seems to be different. I have my iphone 4 4.2.1 bb1.59.00 stuck on the apple logo after an update from cydia and a reboot.

Usually I can reboot my iphone with no problem, and when it's stuck iREB, fixrecovert or rejailbreaking with GreenPoison seem to solve the problem.. This time it seems to be different.

    So far:

    1. I cannot get iphone explorer or iphone browser to recognize my iphone.
    2. I tried to ssh into it, but my iphone is not connected to my network at any stage of the booting process, as I cannot see it in my router connected devices.
    3. I used Redsn0w to boot in tethered mode it did not help.
    4. I put my iphone in DFU mode and used greenpoison to jailbreak it again, but when I reboot its still stuck on apples logo.
    5. I tried kicking my iphone out of recovery mode with irecovery, and iReb with no luck.

I tried to follow another solution asking to plug the iphone in the wall then hard reset then plug in a laptop and back and forth till it boots, but I think I have a problem with my file system. Can I upload a new boot?

Ideally Id like not to reset my iphone to factory settings, I have a particular contact and some photos that I did not get to backup this weekend.

I am wondering is there a way to make iphone explorer or iphone browser recognize my iphone in DFU or recovery mode?

Thank you so much for any help, Id really appreciate it.

    Regards

do you think that using fixrecovery421 AND fixrecovery43 changes something instead of using only one of them? I'm stuck at the apple logo and tried using fixrecovery421 (i have ios 4.2.1) in vain. thanks!

You have either a corrupted filesystem, a hardware fault that is preventing the boot process from completing or most likely some software installed that crashes the boot process.

Apple has a a free Enterpise tool called the iphone configuration utility. This can view your console log (it might work in your case). I believe that you can do similar with the iOS SDK and XCode.

The console log (if you can view it) will tell you why your phone is failing to boot.

Fixing this without a restore requires creating and booting from a ramdisk with SSH installed. I would suggest you only try this if you have solid experience with troubleshooting the boot process on a unix based OS.

Your problem can't be fixed with either version of fixrecovery.

Thank you so much for you prompt and quick reply!

So you think that there is no solution besides restoring? Do you think that if I try: [SOLUTION] iPhone shut off during boot / Stuck Apple Logo - Page 61 or Emergency SSH access using a pwn'd DFU mode RamDisk and if I fail, I would brick my iphone for the rest of its life? I mean you seem to say that it's difficult to inject a proper ramdisk and boot to be able to access the filesystem, so I guess the risk to brick the iphone is high, right?

Thanks again for your kind help!

PS: yes I think it might be a corrupt filesystem due to an update from Cydia. I think it was Activator that I was updating...
