I meant to write 4.3.3 - no idea what caused me to write 3.3.1 (that firmware version has never existed) - you can download this from Apple - IPSW links are in this thread http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/22056.htm

The reason why I suggest 4.3.3 is to eliminate the SHSH factor from the troubleshooting.

Not much to go on.. There is really very little info in the log files.

Try and isolate the problem (use a different usb port, computer, dock connector cable ect)

If all else fails, you can try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and then reconnecting it again.

Thats the thing, i cannot isolate the problem

because ive tried it on 4 different computers and the same error
3 different cables(2 offical)
taken the battery out for an hour twice

i honestly think the phone is not starting up properly
because ive tried redsn0w boot tethered now and its always stuck on the pineapple logo
ive caught it in irecovery a couple times and it just repeats
'error loading kernalcache'
and when i try and use commands it says 'no latest save on nvram_save cannot continue'

and ive tried to kick it out of its dfu loop with things like ireb, tiny umbrella and recboot

The only thing i havent tried, is trying to restore on a mac

I would definitely recommend this.

Is that the exact error message you get when you try and run commands in iRecovery? Can you pastie the output you get when you manage to connect via iRecovery?

When i eventually catch it, when it attempts to boot tethered (normally get stuck at pineapple)

i'm going to take it to the apple shop tomorrow and ask if they can just flash the firmware

Think your nvram is corrupted (or if it isn't the backup copy of nvram can't be located) - I'm a little unsure though (new situation for me)

Do you think theres anyway of fixing it,
if that was the case?

Would you still recommend me going to the apple shop to try an itunes restore?
