Default iphone 3gs stuck in recovery mode

    Hi All,

Please help as i've tried everything within my limited capability.

I've an Iphone 3gs, on 4.2.1 firmware, new boot rom.

I used red snow 0.9.6b6 to jailbrake, but cydia was not working, only coming up with grey symbol. I tried to run jailbrake again but now phone is stuck in recovery mode permenantly. I've tried to just boot tethered, not working.

I've tried to restore stock firmware from i tunes but it will not let me, error coming up 1015, i trust this is due to new i pad baseband. tried to use tiny umbrella to kick it out of recovery but it does not work, i think its cos i didnt save my shsh before begginning whole process

I cant create a custom 4.2.1 firmware as pwnage tool does not recognise it. "wrong firmware bundle" message. I've had suggestions about update number 1 and update number 3 on dev-blog, ref ultra recycle. is this what I shuld be trying to do?? drop one of those bundles into pwnage tool? not sure how to do that as not too hot on OSX

Any help would be much apprecaited

    Thanks

Without a 4.1 SHSH you are pretty much stuck.

Just to be clear, you never try to load the 6.15 baseband on a new bootrom 3GS without confirming you have access to a 4.1 SHSH for that device.

The only 4.2.1 pwnagetool bundle is very basic, considered unofficial/unsupported and only works on old bootrom devices.

Save your 4.2.1 SHSH (You can use the manual mode in tiny umbrella to save your SHSH on a 3GS even if your phone is stuck in DFU mode)

You are going to have to wait for an untethered jailbreak is released for 4.2.1 (and the "backup plan" untethered solution that is being beta tested now won't work for you - it requires a 4.2 beta 3 SHSH - which Apple is no longer giving out)

Yes . SHSH is specific for each device and it is specific for every firmware version

    working meaning what ?
your phone is obviously working. You can have a tethered jailbreak and unlock using ipad baseband but i wouldn't want to slap that ipad baseband on because gps will not work. If you want a full solution, wait. That is my suggestion right now

yeah - hopefully your patience will pay off.
In the mean time, save your SHSH
Any iphone from 3g/3gs/4/itouch3/4,appletv2 MUST have shsh saved for every firmware . That is the most important thing to have at this time
