Exclamation iPhone 3GS - Stuck in Recovery. I tried everything.

    Merry Christmas guys!

Alright, to the point. This is the lose/lose situation put myself into.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit with iTunes 10 I'm using a Jailbroken iPhone 3GS (new version) running 4.1 firmware.

So I was looking to restore or maybe even upgrade to 4.2.1. I plugged my iPhone into iTunes and to my surprise, it gives me that ugly warning to update. I press, yes and everything goes fine. It goes into recovery, the apple logo pops up and loading bar gets to around 95%. Then the famous 1015 error pops up, and forces my iPhone into the stupid recovery loop. iTunes points out the obvious and says it's in recovery mode and needs to be 'Restored and updated' I click yes, and it gives me the repeat of the 1015 error.

I then check my firmware apple has in it's AppData and it shows the iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore.ipsw. I then look on YouTube, Google etc... and find out I need to get it from a special website. I download the firmware of felixbruns.de for 4.1, same firmware i've got and it gives me a stupid 3194 error.

I then tried troubleshooting some more. I used RecBoot, iREB, iRecovery, Error 1015 fixer, Tiny Umbrella to kick the iPhone out of recovery, all it does is restart into recovery, stupidly enough.

Then, a forum thread told me to Jailbreak again using redsn0w. Jailbreaks perfectly fine, with the custom pineapple logo. The downloading application support and all those loading processes and it boots me right back into Recovery mode.

I tried 5 different firmwares, it either gives me 1015 or 3194 errors.

I have even tried adding 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com to the host file, restarting and trying the restore again. I continue to get the 3194 error.
Iíve tried reinstalling iTunes 9.2 (as it supports iOS 4) without luck.

If anybody is in the same boat as me (same system/ipod/firmware) with the same issues, itíd be sweet to find a fix!

I fear that when I first tried upgrading and restoring, with Cydia present, Apple may have disabled the iPhone. Voiding my warranty etc. I've booked an appointment with Genius Bar for Sunday.

if you're restoring to the latest 4.1.2 why would you need to get firmware from a "special" website? as far as I know you should be able to restore without any assle, I've never heard of iPhone's disabled my Apple because of Cydia (btw felix web site doesn't look special to me you simply find old firmwares there)

the host file modification applies if you want to restore to an old fw
a tinyumbrella and a saved SHSH is needed... have you got any?

im having the same problem, difference is i was stuck with baseband 5.14, then upgraded to 6.15 so i could unlock my 3gs on 4.1, everything went smooth, unlocked the iphone then, i went into settings and pushed the erase iphone thingy to erase all the contacts and evetyhing else and the phone never passed the apple logo after that. Now i tried the iReb so i could put the iphone in partial jailbreak state and restore from custom firmware, it goes smooth, says launche itunes and restore, i do, itunes stays on "Preparing iphone for restore" for about 5 to 10 mins then it gives me the 1604 error, which according to the instructions is perfectly fine, i used ireb, tinyumbrella and recboot to get out of recovery mode, i get eh apple logo, stays there for a while and it then reboot by itselfs n goes back to the recovery mode logo, what else can i do?

Unfortunately, I don't have any SHSH. I don't even know what that is...

EDIT: The problem is, I cannot restore. Using iTunes restore program only gives me the 1015 error. Any other firmware gives me other errors.

    Any other suggestions?

The last bit about booting back in the recovery mode constantly and using every single program to kick it out of recovery loop is about the story I have.

Ok, new situation, i managed to get a custom ios 4.2.1 firmware, the restore process completed but rite after it finished that the little pop up that says your iphone has been restored to factory settings etc.., the phone stood in dfu mode and itunes detected the iphone in dfu mode again instead of booting it up, now i cant get it out of dfu mode, i used redsnow and try the boot tethered option and it hangs at the pineapple logo and redsnow stays at uploading kernel part for about 10 mins and the it just shuts off back to dfu mode, can anyone tell me how to get it out of dfu mode, i know if i can get it to boot then the phone will b in working condition, please help me, thanx

Thanks for the advice. But I figured out a way to fix it.

EDIT: It'll be in the Genius Bar sub-forum when a mod approves it.

It's been moderated for a reason. His "solution" won't be approved as-is - it relies on tools we don't recommend and will no support on this forum.
