u think this would work? is pretty similar to what u told me and he uploaded the custom firmware he used, supposely is for the new boot room, i just have to download the custom firmware he uploaded and follow ur steps:

So if you have the Ipad baseband please follow these steps to get your phone back up. This method is for the Iphone 3g and 3gs users with the 4.2.1 update and baseband 6.15 Ipad. You do not need the shsh files if you didnt or forget to save them.

Please have these files downloaded when starting:

    1. 4.2.1 Original firmware 3g or 3gs
    2. 4.2.1 Custom firmware 3g or 3gs
    3. Redsnow 0.9.6b6 (For your computer)
    4. And a full working brain

    Ok here we go

Step 1: reinstall the 4.1.2 Original firmware on to your Iphone and you will get the 1015 error (Which is normal)

Step 2: Open redsnow and choose the Original 4.2.1 firmware and after verifying click on enter pwnd DFU mode then do the process.

Step 3. open back up itunes and point to the Custom firmware and let it install. You will not get any errors but the phone will go back to recover loop. PLEASE LISTEN WHEN I SAY THIS YOU CAN USE TINY UMBRELLA OR ANY OTHER EXIT RECOVERY PROGRAMS IT WILL NOT WORK. So please save your time and do the method im going to explain

    But do this carefully.
Unplug the phone when it is still on the recovery screen. hold the power button until it turns off. Then turn it back on and you will get the apple logo wait for a bit and you will see the bar under it and you will get back to the emergency screen.

If you need files let me know right now i only have the 3gs files thank you

i don't know what custom firmware that person created and how it was created.
The steps i outline for you before works.
The instruction above is not similar to mine because it is missing a lot of stuff.
    The Dev Team specifically said:
Starting with FW 4.2.1 if you have 06.15 on your iPhone you won’t ever be able to restore to stock firmware (it will fail). You’ll need to only restore to custom IPSWs
So step #1 above will not work. Restore ending with 1015 is completely different and occurs when you don't have 06.15.00 which is not in this case.

The custom firmware 4.2.1 for 3gs old bootrom (no baseband update) should work on your device but it will be a tether-boot.

To restore the custom firmware, put the phone in "pwned dfu mode" using redsn0w, then use itunes to restore using the custom firmware.

When done, the phone will reboot.

At this point, the phone should boot up to springboard but you will will not have Cydia installed (because the pwnage bundle for 4.2.1 3GS is a simple bundle)

Here, you would need to run redsn0w again, select firmware 4.2.1, select cydia and follow through steps.
Your iphone will reboot and boot up with a full functioning cydia at this point (white cydia icon)

Now you need to run redsn0w again, select firmware 4.2.1, select just tetherboot right now and follow throug steps.
At the next reboot, your cydia will be functional

Everytime you turn off the phone or reboot the phone, you will have to do the tetherboot again.

That is the ONLY thing you can do at this time.

** what i describe above is based on Official Dev TEam released pwnage bundle for 3gs 4.2.1. If you are using something else then I don't know **
worked like a charm, but after i installed the ultrasn0w for the unlock it now hangs at the apple when it rebooted after it installed it, should i just do the process again, will i be able to unlock it?

yes, just do the "tether boot" options in redsn0w and your phone will boot up again. That is the nature of tether-boot.
Any time the phone is turned off or rebooted, you have to do the tether boot again.

Ultrasn0w hooks into mobilesubstrate and mobile substrate depends on that tether boot to start up the device completely

    Olethrus and jjesurun,

This is a great post. I am having the same problem that you were experiencing. Could you please share with me the custom 4.1.2 firmware for the Iphone 3GS? Hopefully this custom firmware will solve my problem. Thanks in advance, blessings!

No, that is illegal. Making your own custom IPSW is the only legal way.

I did not realize that it was illegal to share custom IPSW. Thanks for sharing.

What program do you recommend to create a custom IPSW 4.1.2? I wanted to create one using Pwnage tool 4.1.3 but it will only do it for IPSW 4.1 for 3GS.

If you could steer me in the right direction that would be great. Thanks for all your help, blessings!
