Question I give up, please help. 3GS stuck in DFU, Can't Restore.

New to the Forum, so please forgive me if I post this in the wrong area.

Also, yes, I have searched the forum and almost every other site for the answer to this question.

I have an Iphone 3GS (new bootrom) 4.3.3 with 6.15 baseband. I know this, because I successfully restored it with a custom FW.

However, it got stuck in DFU, and I cannot get it out.

I don't know what was one it before, because it was given to me in DFU. All the guy told me was it had a 6.15 baseband on it, so I assumed 4.2.1.

I couldn't fix the phone as is, as it was stuck in DFU mode as well.

I decided to update to 4.3.3 with 6.15 with a custom firmware, as I heard that was quite successful in my situation.

It went through succesfully, I was excited, as the guy said I could have the phone if I fix it. However it went back into DFU mode and wouldn't come out.

Mind you, I don't know how to make my own custom firmware, so I have been using ones I could find.

I was told by someone to use iFaith to grab SHSH files and make a custom firmware with that.

I did that, and it came up with error 37. That is in PWNED dfu mode. Error 1600 with just regular DFU.

    I am stuck now.

Can anyone give me some guidance on this, I am willing to try every step someone gives me and give full detail of what happened during their process. I just really want to get this fixed.

    Thanks,

    Faith

Neither 4.2.1 or 4.3.3 are still signed by Apple, you have also destroyed any SHSH saved on the phone by your failed attempts to restore
Use TinyUmbrella to check if any SHSH blobs are saved for this device. As you are stuck in DFU, you will need to manually find your ECID and enter it into TinyUmbrella.

If you got the error 37 when restoring a custom IPSW made with a recent version of sn0wbreeze. Then you should make a new custom IPSW and turn off any "custom logo" options

    Thanks Olethros,

I checked with ECID on Tiny Umbrella, no SHSH files . I haven't tried building another package, but the 37 error came from the IPSW made with iFaith. I don't know if you used that before or not. So, honestly, am I screwed now? Thanks.

iFaith is very new and has a few issues - there will be a new version of the tool soon. I would try it again. It is your only chance
