Just some idiot spammers, don't let them bother you. They've already been banned and their posts deleted.

Unfortunately, what you're trying should work (to the best of my knowledge). All I can find on the internet at present referring to this is a lot of people complaining that it doesn't seem to be working for them, and a few forum posts that you're also looking at where people are just jerking everyone else around....

What version of redsn0w are you using? You said the latest, so I'm assuming 0.9.10b5b, but considering 0.9.10 doesn't support the iPhone 3G (since only 3GS/4/4S can go to iOS 5.x), you may need to use an earlier version of redsn0w. Have you tried redsn0w 0.9.6?

thanks for your answer .. I tried 27 different versions of redsnow .. I tried from the redsn0w_win_0.9.6b4 to redsn0w_win_0.9.10b5c... maybe I just don't know how to use them or they don't work because the iphone 3g doesn't support the tethered?
however 0.9.10 supports the iPhone 3G only if I select the firmware ipsw (from Extras -> Select IPSW)

My (limited!) understanding of the situation is that you should be using redsn0w and choosing Extras -> Preferences -> Boot Args, but to your point -- this *only* works with tethered jailbreaks:

"This will not work for untethered jailbreaks, because the iBoot hasn't allowed boot args since pre-iOS 2.0. It is possible with a tethered jailbreak because the kernel is executed without the iBoot running (this is what the limera1n exploit allows)."

That doesn't make me think it would be possible with the newer, untethered jailbreaks...

Hello sorry for the delay in responding, but I live in Italy (gmt +1).
I tried also on Mac 10.7. There are two methods:

    The first is:
    1- Open redsnow (0.9.10b5c)
2- Go to Extras -> Select IPSW (and select your firmware)
3- Go to Extras -> Preferences -> Boot Args -> "type your boot-args" (in my case: "debug=0x9 kdp_match_name=serial")
4- Go to Just Boot -> Put your iPhone in DFU
5- It should work but it doesn't

    The second is:
    1- Open cmd
    2- Type in:

    C:\Users\HarryPale>C:\Users\HarryPale\Desktop\reds n0w_win_0.9.10b5c\redsn0w.exe
    -a "debug=0x9 kdp_match_name=serial" -i C:\Users\HarryPale\Desktop\iPhone1,2_4.2
    .1_8C148_Restore.ipsw

3- Put your iPhone in DFU
4- It should work but it doesn't

    I'll post a video.

Understood -- all directions indicate that this cannot work on an untethered jailbreak, as it requires the kernel to be executed without iBoot running in order for the boot arguments to be parsed and followed... I have not seen a single post anywhere that shows that this will work on an untethered jailbreak. I hate to say I don't believe there's a known way to do this at present, but my knowledge on this specificity of iPhone hacking is fairly limited...

    Hi here's the video
However I know it's only for a tethered jailbreak but i could try to patch the kernelcache but it's a mission impossible because it's too hard.. I think that worked once time (the screen has turned yellow) but i don't remember how i did...
