Help me out of the dark plzz
ok, i'm really really confused!
with my 3gs i'm still on 3.0 cause of the easy tethering function, so i'm a little bit outdated of the jb and unlock stuff.
i've also got a 3g with os312 and 512 baseband (which seems the idiot has updated to 313, downgraded to rip his friend of not to told that the baseband was updated and the phone is bricked) from a friend of a friend etc
he told me that wifi isn't working and i don't know what tools are used to brick it.
so, what's my strategy outgoing that wifi doesn't work?
any advice is extremely appreciated....
thx so much to clear up and old mans mind ;-)

These answers are all over this forum and could be found with a simple search. That's probably why people didn't answer the question, but I'm always puzzled when people who don't get help then turn against the (free) forum that their posting on. It seems counterproductive to me. But I digress.
If he has 3.1.3 3G, he has two options at this point:
1) He can use PwnageTool to create a pwned 4.0 iOS ipsw and restore it to the device.
2) If he has a legit AT&T SIM, he can upgrade to the stock, locked 4.0 and use redsn0w to jailbreak after activating.
With regard to the bricked wifi, search the forum -- there are many, many posts of people with the same problem, and there are several solutions to it.

What @n1ckn4m3 was trying to say with regards to wifi problem is that there is not one single underlying cause for broken wifi on 3G/3GS so there is no single simple solution.
It can be:
- A hardware problem.
- Race condition (which means the wifi can sometimes work and sometimes not).
- Misconfiguration or incompatibility with your home wifi router.
- Corrupt baseband (often caused by blacksn0w)
By resetting network settings and then reloading the baseband afterwards (via for example reloading OS 3.1.3 or restoring to iOS 4.0) you can often get the wifi back. This can fix the corrupt baseband case. Reloading the OS and resetting network settings can help temporarily resolve the race condition.
