I got a iPhone4 on FW 4.1 baseband 02.10.04 with no original AT&T Sim card inside.

I jailbroke it with greenpois0n and still I do not see "iPhone Activated".

Youtube.app does not work and the iPhone is not activated

I even inserted my own AT&T sim card and I get nothing. Am I doing something wrong??

You need to either:

Restore again and let it activate with your own AT&T sim card inserted first. Then run greenpois0n to jailbreak.

or if you want to avoid restore replace the lockdownd with an unpatched one (decrypt this from 4.1 IPSW) and follow the rest of the procedure here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/180956.htm#post654851 use your AT&T sim card to activate the iPhone.

Finally install hacktivation patch (not sure if cydia.pushfix.info has updated their hacktivation patches to support 4.1, but if not you can get the correct bspatch from within the latest pwnagetool application bundle)

According to pushfix, if you want to keep facetime working you should poweroff your iPhone, then swap from AT&T sim to your own sim and power back on. (with the hacktivation patch installed). That will prevent the iPhone from removing the facetime activation.

I tried to restore it again using my own SIM card, but on the iTunes screen it is locked to another phone number...I don't mind restoring but I can't even activate using my own sim card. The iPhone just stays stuck on the connect to iTunes logo. And on iTunes apple asks me for the billing zipcode and last 4 of SS# of which the phone number it is locked to.

Even after jailbreaking it with greenpois0n, I do not get a 'iPhone Activated' pop-up message.


Is there something else I can do to activate/hacktivate the phone?

The guy I bought this iPhone from didnt activate it or include the original sim card with the phone.

Pwnagetool 4.1.2 - tick off activation and restore with the custom IPSW.

Most of the ramdisk based jailbreaks autodetect if hacktivation is required, to get them to hacktivate you need to have a non AT&T sim inserted during the jailbreak.
