Default Is this failed baseband? /restore failed after lockup

Hi all. My iPhone was on dash when I was driving home, running some GPS app. In a moment there was a 'connect with iTune' picture with keylock keypad overlay. I thought that's odd and left it as it was. Later I did connect the phone to iTunes and it kept saying that won't connect until I enter the passcode on the phone. That was not possible of course because the keylock keypad was not showing anymore. I did boot it in recovery mode and attempted to restore but no go.

I don't remember what iOS version is / was on that phone.
WinXp, iTunes 10.2.2.12, here is the error log.

Does this mean that the phone is good only for spare parts? /Baseband failed?

Thanks for looking and greetings from New Zealand

Sorry to say, but yes it looks very much like a crashed baseband. That isn't something that can be fixed by anyone except Apple. It's a 3GS, so your warranty is probably expired. Argue with Apple - this seems to be a somewhat common failure on the 3G/3GS.

    Ouch.

Well what if I replace the LogicBoard from salvaged 32GB model? (this is 16GB) Would that be too much of a drama in a way of >convincing iTunes to restore my old phone into it< ?

I have my hands in too many projects now, gosh I was hoping I don't have to get into iPhone mocking. Well there is still some new 3gs phones left out there...

knowledgeable conversation very appreciated, thank you

That will probably work, but I'm not an expert on the hardware side of things.
