Not sure if anyone can help or not on this one. One of my friends has an Iphone 4 that is running the latest and greatest IOS 5 beta. Last week, the phone was accidentally dropped into about an inch of water. He immediately took it to a repair shop first thing the next morning. They were able to get the phone powered up with no problem, but were unable to restore it. We figured that the version of Itunes they probably had installed wasn't the beta and couldnt see the phone properly.
Taking the phone back to a known computer that installed IOS 5 on it, we were able to get things recognized, can get the phone into DFU mode with no issues. This is what happens when I point to the IPSW:
preparing iphone for restore
verifying iphone restore with Apple
Waiting for Iphone
Preparing Iphone software for restore
restoring iphone software
verifying iphone software
verifying iphone restore
restoring iphone firmware
The Iphone "Iphone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1).
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
issues with a beta iOS aren't going to get much assistance/help here.
If the person is a legitimate developer, then they have access to the latest betas of iOS5, these should work if this isn't a hardware issue (and based on the description it sounds like it could be)
