Today while trying to send a picture message on my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.3) it randomly froze for a second, then rebooted to the Apple logo and gave me the lock screen. I entered my passcode then when I opened up the Messages app all of my text history was gone. Nothing else was affected though, emails, photos, calendar, etc they were all fine it was just my text messages.
I remembered that iTunes saves your texts in a backup file so I plugged my iPhone into my computer, it automatically tries to sync again, I cancel it but it does not reload any of my lost data. I have tried the entire time since this happened to figure out a solution.
My phone still displays partial messages through the search feature, does this mean that my texts are still saved somewhere and are recoverable? Or are they truly lost and are just things that were not deleted?
Sorry if anything is not clear, if anyone could shed some light on this I'd be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
