Cellular Data Network Tab Missing on Factory Unlocked ip4
Hi All,
I have a factory Unlocked IP4 running 4.2.1.
Why is the Cellular Data N/W tab missing. Was looking to put in APN details but could not find the tab.
Thanks

Factory unlock means you can make call using any provider's SIM.
It does not imply cellular data field can be changed.
With that said, afaik, the APN field is dependent on the carrier bundle (ipcc) and normally this will show up as a carrier profile update when you connect the phone via itunes. If there is no carrier update, you would have to patch commencenter and put in a custom ipcc bundle.
You may want to search the forum on commcenter patching (wortel) on iphone4. YMMV
And look for a correct ipcc / carrier bundle for your Cellular provider

I had the same problem, this is how i fixed it, go on cydia and install supreme preferences 3.0, it will install with Winterboard. when done, go into winterboard and set supreme preferences 3.0 as your theme, this will simply install the preferences on your settings, won't change your theme. Then go into settings, go into applications, phone and turn cellular network editing on. That's it, u can now go back to winterboard and unset the sumpreme preferences.

This is generally bad advice.
Supreme preferences is dangerous overkill for solving this kind of problem. Also, it won't apply the commcenter patch that is actually required to fix this permanently.
Dtube's advice is correct (as it almost always is)

I have no idea what supreme preferences is. However, if it involves winterboard then I don't see how it can patch commcenter.
A carrier bundle / ipcc is signed by Apple (sometimes when you plug the phone and run itunes, itunes will say there is an update for your CARRIER and if you want to update it - that's the carrier bundle).
For an unsigned bundle/ipcc to be installed and symlink'ed , commcenter must be patched for the system to accept an unsigned bundle. And that's what the wortel patch does.

The problem with supreme preferences is that it doesn't offer any way to "revert" or "undo" the settings changes you make. It's way too easy to mistakenly change some advanced setting in Supreme Preferences and end up with a "restore" as your only option.
Also.. as I said, on iOS 4.x you absolutely need a commcenter patch to be able to load unsigned carrier bundles. Wortel makes the best patches but he doesn't post much here.
