My jailbroken iPhone 4 (with redsn0w) has 04.10.01-ICE_2_13 baseband.
Is it possible to carrier unlock it?

If so please tell how.

Only a gevey sim will unlock that

Or you can request for the carrier it is locked to to unlock it for you. Some carriers will but some won't.

It's illegal to use gevey SIM in the country that this poster is from. GeveySIM is a (mostly) illegal, expensive and time-limited solution (it has been blocked in iOS 5). I would not recommend trying it.

Of the three carriers who sell iPhones in this poster's country - only Vodaphone will authorise unlocking iPhones sold by them. The other two carriers don't authorise unlock according to Apple's documentation (which might be out of date, so you should still check with the carrier your phone is locked to)

The only way to reliably test is to try and activate via iTunes with a SIM card inside the phone. So you need another micro sim (or you need to cut a min sim down to micro sim size)

That seems to be the general consensus between some people but I have yet to see anyone brought up on any charges for using a gevey sim. Contrary to what MuscleNerd thinks I do not think they are quite as bad as some people make them out to be. Being the only option for some people (Since MuscleNerd is unable to make a new software unlock without planetbeing) I wouldn't be so quick to put them down. They aren't very expensive anymore either

Just because you don't hear about anyone getting arrested, doesn't mean that it is any less illegal. There is also the moral side of using the geveySIM unlock in a country where it is illegal. You risk blocking someone else from making a legitimate emergency call. The risk is relatively small but the risk is still there.

Planetbeing is amazingly talented, but has made it clear that he cannot work full time on iPhone projects. We must respect this.
I'm not sure where you got the idea that musclenerd can't make an unlock with planetbeing. The iPhone 4 version of ultrasn0w was the first time planetbeing worked on baseband hacking. Musclenerd has been involved in the development of many unlocks.

Musclenerd is also very experienced in playing the cat&mouse game. There is the greatest value in releasing an unlock with a major new hardware and OS release.
I have no inside information but if the iPhone dev team have a working baseband exploit, they should save it until either iOS 5 is released or an iOS beta shows that the exploit will soon be blocked.

I did some quick googling and the vast majority of stories that have it as illegal are all quoting MuscelNerd from when he made that tweet about it. I have seen no solid evidence outside of MuscleNerd's word that they are illegal. I understand that calling 112 can be illegal but with the gevey you are not supposed to even let it ring let alone connect. So basically I see it as MuscleNerd's word against that of the gevey makers. I am no means on either side of it, I just dont think anyone should be so quick to say it is illegal and leave it at that.

I fully respect that planetbeing has a life outside of the iPhone world and by no means owes anybody anything. It is just my opinion that if he were still active and joined up with MuscleNerd again we would have seen another unlock for the iPhone 4 by now. I am not trying to say that MuscleNerd himself is not talented, I have been a iPhone owner since the very beginning and have been a member of this site for just as long so I know what he has done for the icommunity and have a lot of thanks and respect for him. I just dont think he is able to produce another unlock for iPhone 4 by himself. I realize that this site is and has always been very pro dev team (to a fault at times which is why I am more active on MMi being a moderator there) but following anybody's word blindly has never been my thing. The dev team is pretty much just MuscleNerd these days anyway. Wizdaz still churns out updates for pwnage tool but the blog and redsnow are pretty much just kept up by MuscleNerd from what I have seen and heard (not counting Comex of course who has his own thing going with the userland jailbreaks).
