    Default Cannot unlock after upgrading...

    Hi there!

I have a big problem with my iPhone. It's an iPhone 3G[S] running on 3.1.3 with the old bootrom. (iDevice couldn't find my iPhone, but I checked using some USB program, and confirmed it does have the old bootrom). I've been trying to update it for over a week, getting random error each time. I can't seem to update it using DFU mode.

I think I was on Spirit, so I used Spirit2Pwn in cydia.

Then I used sn0wbreeze to upgrade it to 4.0.1, and that FINALLY seemed to work. I got the sn0wbreeze logo etc. Problem is that it REMOVED my SIM Unlock. And this is now where I'm stuck.

If I boot my iPhone normally, it has the sn0wbreeze boot logo, but the unlock is gone, so I cannot access the phone. iTunes tells me this as well.

I've been trying to redo the IPSW using sn0wbreeze (and using the guide here: ). The problem is that I CAN'T do ANYTHING when I'm in DFU mode. I keep getting 16xx errors. I've tried different computers, and while I got 1604 and 1600 errors before, I'm now stuck with 1601 errors.

    I'm on iTunes

Not sure what other information I need to provide. I was so happy that it finally seemed to upgrade with sn0wbreeze. I was in recovery mode then, but that doesn't work now that my phone is unlocked - I simply can't gain access to it! It just says I'm using an unrecognized SIM card.

I don't know what other information I need to provide, but I'll try provide any other information needed.

I'd be really happy for any help I can get! Thanks!

    Just to be 100% clear

    1. We absolutely refuse to support or recommend sn0wbreeze on this forum. That position has been made clear many many times now. Go search old threads for why. Find a way to use pwnagetool (Virtual machine running OS X for example) or get help elsewhere.

    2. Unless you have a 2G iPhone, reloading or updating the OS will always remove any software unlock. The only way to avoid this is to bake the unlock into a custom ipsw (with required dependencies)

    3. Don't confuse unlock with activation. You are currently stuck at the activation stage based on the description you gave
