Default 4.2.1 downgrade issues iPhone 4

    Hi All,

I bought a factory unlocked iPhone 4 with 4.1 preinstalled and had it jailbroken via limera1n, anyways i decided to update to 4.2.1 just because I decided to take a break from the jailbreak. Of course, I miss the convenience of jailbreak. So, when I try to downgrade back to 4.1, I get error 1004 from iTunes and the iPhone is in DFU mode (black screen) and tiny umbrella won't detect it. RecBoot doesn't work either and the only thing I can do is reupdate to 4.2.1. Sure, I could just go with redsn0w, but I realllllllly want the untehthered jailbreak, also my buddies have had freezing issues with the new version (I'm on Windows so I can't get the 0.9.7 beta either)...Any help would be great thanks

    1004 is normal
your device is in recovery mode, use tinyumbrella to kick it out of recovery.

I don't mean to be rude, but did you read the whole message? The iPhone is in DFU mode and TinyUmbrella won't detect it.

of course i read the whole message.
I was just responding to the 1004 error based on my restore experience because normally it puts the phone in recovery mode.

Your message was not clear so I assume that 1004 and DFU are two separate things /steps you did.
FWIW, tinyumbrella will not detect device in DFU so you are right on that.

Sorry for the lack of detail ... I put the iPhone 4 in Pwned DFU mode via iReb and then attempted to downgrade to 4.1 with error 1004 (as expected) afterwards, instead of entering recovery mode, it entered DFU mode Ive done many other jailbreaks for friends and family, never with a 4th gen device though, I suppose Apple has added some sort of extra security measure against downgrading

What version of TinyUmbrella? Did you have the TSS Server running during restore?

Will discuss this more with the other moderators and get back to you.
