i have an iphone 3g now stuck in dfu mode, was having problems syncing so upgraded and restored, all went well till i got the msg sim not supported (us phone in the uk) so I tried using redsn0w to hacktivate, again went smooth till it said finished, iphone screen got stuck at "downloading jailbreak data..." tried this a few times then decided to go back to 4.0 and got error 14 and now im stuck on dfu getting nothing but errors, cant upgrade, cant downgrade

Please someone HELP, I need a phone and I'm pretty low on cash

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes
also tried bumping out of dfu with ireb

would downgrading to a custom 4.0 work??

only upgrade to 4.0.2 will work as i know so far. apple only verify digitally signed 4.0.2 ios.

Custom 4.0 IPSW will work on a 3G - You need to use pwnagetool - don't jsut download a pre-made custom IPSW from the net and try to restore via iTunes.

I just got an Iphone 4 and it had the iso 4.0.1 and I did jailbreak it using the jailbreakme.com but the iphone got frozzen and now when I go to restored I cant restore unless I upgraded. is there anyway to restore without upgrading to ios 4.0.2 as i didnt upgraded before PLEASE. THANKS A LOT

gramoz1: If, after you first jailbroke your iPhone you clicked on the "make my life easier" link when you first opened cydia you will be ok. Follow this link. It is really simple (I've done it).If you didn't click the link then you are SOL. Sorry dude.

Now 4.0.2 is not signed any more either. Do NOT restore to 4.1 if you want to use ultrasn0w unlock. Without a cached SHSH 4.1 is now the only restore option.

From the sounds of it, he did not get far enough in the jailbreak to get cydia open. Also as I keep on saying, it takes a few days (at least) for your "make my life easier" request to be processed by Cydia (there are tens of thousands of requests a day). Even if your request was processed, Cydia prioritises processing new requests over updating the "you have xx SHSH on file" display that appears when you open Cydia.

If you know a new iOS release is due soon, use TinyUmbrella, it tells you within 30 seconds if you have saved a SHSH or not (and it registers with Cydia's make my life easier service as well)

TinyUmbrella The Firmware Umbrella will also allow you to verify if you have any saved SHSH on Cydia. Use the advanced option and enter your SHSH
