Default 3GS upgrade to 4.0 keeps getting stuck at 10%

I'm upgrading my 3gs on a mac running snow leopard 10.6.3, itunes 9.1... all updated to the latest.

iTunes is always stuck at the progress bar "Restoring iPhone Software..."
and the iphone is stuck with the apple logo and a progress bar at about 10%.

i tried at least 5 times, same thing. I tried removing itunes and reinstalling, restore to clean 3.1.3 firmware (mine came with 3.1.3 too), all the same result.

oh yea my UDID is registered with my dev friend.

    anyone?

Being registered shouldn't matter, activation is done afterwards. I recommend making sure you Restore and not update, else you get error 14 occasionally about running out of disk space.

Have you tried a recovery mode restore?

Yes i used Restore to "'upgrade" the firmware, I also tried putting the phone into DFU but same thing. Recovery mode didn't work either. I've tried all possible ways but all ended up stuck at the same spot.

i'm thinking if it's a bad firmware file that i downloaded... i had some really bad internet connection earlier today.

    Correct MD5 checksum is: b7f4501ef6122da7addab344ae5ba58a

(for 3GS and for the IPSW file, not the dmg image)
