3GS 4.2.1 activate without sim card etc.
Howdy folks....I found a good deal on a 3GS refurb and my goal was to get it to work on my T-mobile sim card. I've gotten stuck at just activating the phone "no sim card installed". I've googled this quite a bit but keep running into dead ends such as the "redsnow" or such, download recommended is not there anymore etc. My brain's about ready to give it up but I would like to get it done.
I'm pretty much a nube at this and would appreciate any guidance on just getting the phone activated and then seeing if I can jailbreak, unlock anf get it on T-Mobile.
I don't wish to do anything that would preclude me from being able to return the phone unless it was pretty certain I could get done what I want to get done.
Thanks.

Without a supported sim card the only solution is to hactivate with a program like redsnow. Download redsn0w 0.9.9b8 from the devteam blog and jailbreak with it,then unlock with ultrasn0w from cydia
Have any problems with your iphone, or do not know how to unlock and jailbreak ,I can do it for you online for you, just email me

Thanks....I'll see what I can do.

Alrighty.....I got the hactivate done easily but no success so far with "unlock with ultrasn0w from cydia". When I click on ultrasnow in cydia I continually get "unable to load" [certificate for server invalid] I'm also now getting the same message for cydia.
Let me know if there's a way around this.
Thanks again for your help.
