is it possible to downgrade to an earlier firmware, preferably custom firmware made by pwngetool? i have just reinstalled an old version of itunes on my mac (9.1.1)

but i read somewhere apple were not signing old versions of ipsw since 3.1.3 was released... does this affect custom firmwares made from pwnagetool?

i keep getting the error 1600 when trying to install the custom ios4 i just made with pwnagetool. and i cant think of anything else.

i did have itunes 9.2 but have since uninstalled and reinstalled v 9.1.1.

my 3GS was bought 12 months ago, on day 1 so will definitley have the old bootrom. i think i may have used spirit about a month ago when i was having problems trying to get the phone to boot, may have restored to 3.1.3 and Jb with Spirit, although I'm not sure...

any ideas??

Read Apple has stopped signing OS 3.1.2

If you don't have a SHSH for OS 3.1.2 or lower saved (either locally or with Cydia) then you can downgrade to 3.1.2. Spirit is simply not a low-level enough jailbreak to allow bypassing the SHSH checking.

If you don't meet the following criteria - in the post linked below, then you need to wait for a new jailbreak that utilises one or more new exploits that Apple has not yet blocked.
