Default Updated an app - now it doesn't start SOS

    Hi All,

    I have a 3.1 or 3.1.1 or 3.1.2 iphone (don't remember wich exactly) blackra1ned half year ago.

    It was working fine.

Today I updated the "Rock" installer and one dev-cmd (don't remember the exact name) application.

Now my iPhone 2G doesn't start anymore. When starting it, the apple appears for few seconds, and then the phone switchs off.

What can I do? What are the possibilities?

I would like to not loose the SMS, contacts, notes... if possible also the application... I need your expertise.

Please suggest what I can do.
    Thank you

Did you sync your iPhone with your computer recently? It normally takes a backup each time you sync.

Otherwise - it is much more difficult to get your data directly off the iPhone.

I didn't sync my data recently

I was thinking something.... on any computer OS Windows and non, if something gets corrupted, if something wrong gets installed or something gets deleted, it is always possible to troubleshoot....

What is in my mind is to go to the file system and check what has been changed added/changed with the recent updates... probably there is something that is read during the booting process that needs to be deleted or replaced.

Is it possible to enter and read all the files and folders of the iPhone even if it cannot boot? What do you think about it?

What are the files that the iPhone reads/loads during boot?

Does iPhone have a "registry" like windows or it doesn't have it like linux?

These things are possible, but they are not simple as Apple has blocked access to most of these functions for all normal devices. You need either a patched and older iBoot that still can access the filesystem or you need to make a ramdisk that "fixes" the corruption. The problem is you don't know what the corruption is.

The third option is to replace only the OS partition with a specially tweaked OS that can take a clone of the media partition. This is a forensic technique and is documented in iPhone Forensics.

    Please confirm...

if I now go to itunes and click restore, will it be back locked and I will need to repeat the unlock procedure?

If yes, can you please link me to some tutorial guide?

    Thank you

No it will not be locked (2G unlock is permanant)

However you will need to jailbreak to get past the "connect to iTunes to activate" screen. I recommend redsn0w - guides on iclarified. L

Or if you have the original sim card the iPhone came with (and the sim card was activated at some time) then that sim card can be used with iTunes to activate.

    Hello,

when I click "recover" on iTunes it says that it will delete everything and will put the newest firtmware....

I would like it to have the same firmware or the 3.1.2 ...

what will happen if I continue? iTunes will download the 3.1.3 and install that one?

Should I download the 3.1.2 and click on Restore with shift and tell iTunes to put the 3.1.2?

    Thank you
