Default Updated to 3.0.1, now wifi and service provider is a no go.

    ok. I have a iPhone 3G 16 gig.
i just updated to 3.0.1 - also jailbroken.
now, my wifi doesnt work, my router isn't on the wifi list.
now, i only have "searching" as my provider....
i tried downgrading back to 3.0, but still, the problems exist.
    My baseband is 4.26.08
    My firmware is 3.0.1

Does anyone have a clue what's wrong?

    Thanks.

Try to do a clean restore to 3.0.1 and then jailbrake and unlock.
Don't update from a previous backup.

having the EXACT same problem myself! I know my router is fine, at least i'm pretty sure. My ps3 is still connected to it no problem. Just incase I did reboot the router and tried all that kind of stuff. When I go to WiFi settings, the iPhone will NOT pick up on the router even if Im standing right over it.
Rebooted iPhone, cleared settings, all that and nothing. Now i'm redoing the entire jailbreak over again and seeing if that will fix it. Everything was fine until the new patch came out...

Anyone else been threw it and maybe figured it out?

here's the thing, the wifi works, but only after you let it search for the router for 10 minutes.....
and i've also seen around forums that iphone OS 3.1 will solve this issue. And it's coming out during late august.

Unhappy same problem - iPhone 2g FW 3.0.1 no wifi

I have the same problem. iPhone 2g FW 3.0.1 no wifi. It worked for about 12 hours after I jailbroke and unlocked it, and then it stopped. It either says "unable to join the network "xx"" or "can not search for wireless networks". I want to fix this problem! I've heard that if you revert back to FW 1.1.4 or something, and re-jb and unlock it, it works, but that includes deleting iTunes library and getting lots of software... will FW 3.1 fix this? IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY... help!

just wanted to update this thread real quick:

I ended up setting up a sevice call from Apple. They called me on Thursday 8-27-09. I explained my problem and the things I had done to try to fix it. The service guy was very friendly and seems he knew of the issue. He advised me that he would send a box and to send the phone in for repair.

Monday 8-31-09 I received the box as he stated. Very nice package by the way. I packaged up the phone as the instructions stated to and dropped the box off at Fed-Ex that night at 5:12pm est.

The very next day I recieved an email that they had recieved my phone and determined a replacement was needed. Replacement was pending authorization. Following day 9-2-09 a new email stating my brandnew iphone was on it's way to me.

Thursday 9-3-09 I recieved my brandnew, working perfectly, iphone. GREAT job apple!

I actually took the time to write to them and let them know I was so impressed with their service that I'm going to be selling my Dell XPS to buy a MAC. They did a great job and I've been looking into buying a new comp, so they won me over..

Anyone else who is not able to connect through wifi and after you have tried rebooting and restoring, I would suggest visiting apple's sight and setting up a service call, unless you have an apple store nearby. Good luck!
