    Default stuck in connect to itunes/how to figure out bootloader version

    My daughter updated her unofficially unlocked iphone 3G to 3.1.3, modem firmware 05.12.01.

    I understand there's no fix for this unless her bootloader is 5.08 or lower. (If it is, then I'm thinking we can use fuzzyband to downgrade her baseband, then unlock it again.)

    However, it's stuck on the connect to itunes screen. How can I determine the bootloader version from this point?

    thanks in advance!

    3.1.3 3G + Redsn0w 0.9.4 => iPod Touch with a built-in mic. But you'll be able to check BB BL version.

    The very latest beta version of Umbrella includes the ability to detect the baseband version and the baseband bootloader - this will allow you to find out what version of baseband bootloader your daughter's iPhone has.

    I just tested this with v03.13.65 of umbrella and it works even when the iPhone is stuck at the "connect to iTunes" screen. Umbrella talks to the same apple mobile device driver that iTunes uses - so it does not need to have the iPhone activated to get this info.

    On a 3G or 2G, you can also use redsn0w to jailbreak and it will hacktivate - this will bypass the "connect to iTunes" screen. However on a 3GS running OS 3.1.3 it is not possible to jailbreak if you can't get past the "connect to iTunes screen"
