Exclamation Strange Problem with iPhone 2G 16 GB after upgradeing to 3.0

I have this very strange problem with an iPhone 2G 16 GB after the update to firmware 3.0

If a manage to get it restored and jailbroken, always have to try about 30 times and switch between windows and mac, everything works fine. I can use all of the iPhone's functions and get no errors. But as soon as i let the iPhone get into stand-by or insert/take out the Sim-tray or plug/un-plug the USB Cable it crashes and goes in to recovery mode (Display shows the "Connect to iTunes" logo).

If i catch it soon enough i can reset by holding Home and Powerbutton for 10 sec. and it comes back to normal, but if i miss the right moment then it's lost into Nirvana again and i have to restore and jailbreak all over. and it douse this on various firmwareversions 2.0 - 3.0

I think it's a Hardware problem but i'm not sure since everything works fine, when i leave the Phone on...(not letting it get in to stand-by).

Maybe someone had the same issues or knows a answer to this strange behaviour.

    Thank's

I am 99% sure it's your home button that causes the problem. Your home button is stuck in the on position. Either crap under the button or something short circuits it.

When the iPhone is off and you press the home button and connect the usb cable it will go into recovery mode. Pressing the home button for 5 sec in sleep mode will force quit program. Doing that repetatly will cause iphone to crash.

Default Strange Problem with iPhone 2G 16 GB after upgradeing to 3.0

    Thanks for the replys

I opened the iPhone and cleaned the "Home Button" ...pretty much crap under there! Now after getting everything fixt up again, i didn't even have a chance to test the thing.

iTunes gives me "unknown error 28" all the time. I have tried everithing. Mac, Intel based Mac, PC with windows XP and Vista. No chance getting it restored. Always the error 28. Even when i try downgradeing it.

    Seems to be dead.
