Hum..... that seems to be a reasonable assumption. MMS is sent as data, so there is no straightforward association with the phone number. I'm not an expert in the protocol, but that may be the approach used to define the originating phone number.

However, I have the impression that allowing the origin to be set by the user open the door for apocryphal messages, a serious weakness for the protocol. Either way I will check it.
