Default [Question] How to upgrade to 3.0 my Iphone 2G?

    Hi Guys

I have been looking around this forum for quite a few days now but havent come across an answer to my question.

I have an original iPhone that is jailbroken and unlocked - Iīm using it in Spain on an Orange pay as you go SIM card and it works just fine.

However I would like to upgrade the software to version 3 and still be able to use my Orange SIM card. Is this possible ?

My phone details are as follows:

    Version: 1.1.3 (4A93)
    Model: MB213B
    Modem Firmware: 04.02.13_G

Any help would be really apreciated.

    Cheers
    Allan

Thanks very much for your fast reply.

Two quick questions that the forums donīt seem to mention is:

While I am up dating my phone does the SIM card need to be in or out and finally when Itīs all updated to version 3 and I connect it to itunes will iTunes then put all my SMS messages back on to it or will they be lost.

Not bothered about email and contacts because I sync them with outlook.

    Thanks again
    Allan

    Leave your SIM card in.

In order to avoid any issues, set your iPhone as "new iPhone", do not restore from backup. After that your sms will be lost

    Hi

I have downloaded all the files in the tutorial you recomended but the file iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw is not there. I think its supposed to be contained within the .ZIP file of the same name, however itīs not there.

The .ZIP file extracts 2 folders and 6 files none of which have an extension of .IPSW

Now I know there are lots of people who have done this so what am I missing. Even the iTunes dialogue box cant find the file because its looking for the .IPSW extension.

    Any help would be apreciated

    Cheers

you are supposed to search for the firmware (ipsw file) on your own.

Don't extract the zip file. Rename it to ipsw if it has a wrong extension.
