    Unhappy [Problem] MMS not working in china

    thk everyone!

    In china,i use the carrier CMCC,but they have two apn

    one is cmnet : allow you to directly visiting the Internet

    second is cmwap:visit the CMCC wap-net,have any limit!(MMS server at here)

    so i made an carrier bundle for iphone 3.0 beta to set up the MMS!beacuse any province GPRS only open cmnet and the cmwap must jailbreak the iphone with a proxy to visit,this bundle cannot work..

    CHINA CMCC CMNET SETTING:
    APN:cmnet
    name:null
    password:null

    CHINA CMCC CMWAP SETTING:
    APN:cmnet
    name:null
    passwork:null
    proxy:10.0.0.172:80

    CHINA CMCC MMS SETTING :
    APM:CMWAP
    mms_proxy:10.0.0.172
    mms_proxy_port:80 OR 1902
    mmsc:http://mmsc.monternet.com

    have someone know this?help me!

    Dude, the iPhone (officially) isn't even sold in China. How the hell is your carrier going to provision it for MMS?

    @Trat: It's not necessary to be on a official iphone plan to use the MMS service... you just need to create your custom carrier bundle file and upload it to the phone as an ipcc file.

    @ontion: Sorry... but i think that the iphone 3.0 MMS only works on a 3G network. Your carrier plist looks OK to me..

    If your carrier cannot provision your account for MMS it won't work: simple as that. I know what I'm talking about and I use custome carrier bundles. Have multiple contracts working with my iPhone: Vodafone accepts MMS perfectly, TMobile not.

    The carrier doesn't need to sell iphones to support MMS. It wasn't apple who invented the MMS service.... The provisioning is not connected to the iphone but to the sim card.

    If you use china mobile,
    mms is get from wap gateway.
    I think you need to setup only two APNs, one for cmnet and one for cmwap. Just 2 not more.

    like this
    Code:
    "mms_proxy" = "10.0.0.172";
     "mms_proxy_port" = 80;
     mmsc = "http://mmsc.monternet.com";

     apns =     (
                     {
                 apn = "cmnet";
                 password = "";
                 username = "";
             },
                     {
                 apn = "cmwap";
                 password = "";
                 "type-mask" = -2;
                 username = "";
             }
         );
    .

    Touch Dial is an easy-to-use application for one touch dial / sms icon on the home screen for iPhone.

    This app can read the accelerometer and do phone dial or SMS dial for the same number based on the your setting for Portrait or Landscape Mode of iPhone.

    Ok I don't have an iphone but I have been having a similar problem here in Tianjin and just figured this out today. China mobile Customer service f'in sucks for not thinking of this.

    What SIM card do you have?

    China mobile has 3 different SIMs.
    Only 2 that cab do CMNET and CMWAP are GoTone and M-Zone if you have an Easy Own SIM you're screwed you need a new SIM.

    GoTone
    - Post paid thus appeals to corporate users
    - You need to bring your passport to a China Mobile office and apply for this plan

    Easy Own
    - Pre paid, most of China Mobile's subscribers use this
    - Green packaging, currently with a bald old man on it
    - Prices vary based on how good the phone number is, base prices seems to be ~280 RMB for the SIM Ka
    - Currently comes with 50RMB prepaid value card.
    - Doesn't support full Internet access, only WAP (needs to be activated)

    M-Zone
    - Pre paid with bundles and plans that appeal to the youth market
    - Orange packaging currently with some kids on it.
    - Doesn't come with any prepaid value.
    - 40 RMB for the SIM Ka
    - Supports both WAP and full Internet access (needs to be activated)

    I suggest using MZone, it seems to have the best plans and flexibility that would appeal to most foreigners. Also, "Easy Own" apparently doesn't support full Internet access, only WAP.

    Hope this helps you out.
