Iphone 2G internet GPRS
I bought a iphone 2G 16GB when they were new since then i have got a 3gs and given this phone to my dad, I live in the UK and my dad is on Virgin on pay as you go, The problem i have is he doesn't want to use any data so i have disabled edge using boss preferences and under settings > general > network > Cellular data network checked that there is no information in user and password (i have put in random information but this also doesn't help) the problem i have is it will still go online on gprs the little circle is present at the top, because of this his credit is getting used without him doing anything just by the phone being on any help would be much appreciated.
the iphone is a 2G 16GB 3.1.3 jailbroken and unlocked
Just because an o or E symbol appears does not always mean it is using data. It is generally impossible to completely remove this.

If that does not work, you can try: Disable Edge and 3G data on iPhone or as virgin UK uses t-mobile as carrier, you could try a custom ipcc Carrier Bundle Generator iPhone OS 3.0 - 3.1.2 (ipcc)
If none of this works, test if you still get an IP by dialling *3001#12345#* on the phone and pressing Call. Then, tap 'PDP Context List' and then tap '0'. If you do not have the '0' listed, or if the IP Address shown on the '0' page is 0.0.0.0 then you don't have an IP and you should not get charged.
