    Default Please Help!!! - Again

Ok to cut a long story short, I installed an app off cydia that totally fooked my iphone 3G to the point where I had no option but to completely restore it, I did so using pwanage tool, but for some reason it made me a 3.1.3 custom restore which I didnt realise until I had restored it so.... now I am as follows:

    3.1.3(7e18) modem firmware 05.11.07

the phone is jailbroken but not unlocked. Can anyone give me a straight answer as to wether I can now unlock this phone? Oh and to add to my strife the WIFI does not work!! (last time I did an offline unlock via diskaid)

honestly these frigging Iphones are more trouble than they are worth some times!!

Very much appreciate any answers cheers

You can get your unlock back (probably not the wifi right now, apple or maybe geohot needs to fix the wifi bug)

Make a custom IPSW for 3.1.2 (use pwnagetool 3.1.4) and restore with that. Then use the offline blacksn0w unlock. You will have everything aside from wifi working.

Hi, thanks for that, I actually had just done this before you posted and managed to get it back to 3.1.2 with a ipsw downloaded from this site and customized via pwnage tool.

so essentially anyone who has custom upgraded to 3.1.3 as long as your modem firmware hasn't upgraded you are ok to downgrade to 3.1.2.

I have learned my lesson now with these phones and it is: if it isn't broke don't try to fix it!!!!!!!

Incidently the reason in the first place that I had the problem was because I tried to install emojis on my iphone from cydia and it just ruined the phone completely, I certainly will not be installing any apps off cydia in future and will in fact remove cydia from my iphone.

    Thanks again for the help

As long as you only restore custom ipsw, you are safe. This is called the pwnage train.

Many people panic if their iPhone screws up and think they have suddenly got a tethered jailbreak or something. Run blackra1n and subsequently screw up their LLB so badly that they have no choice but to restore to stock Apple IPSW (thus jumping off the pwnage train). If they had simply calmly forced their phone into recovery mode and restored a custom IPSW 99% of the the time this would have fixed their problem.

For a 3G, it is always possible to go back to a previous OS, but not possible to downgrade the baseband. For 3GS, you have to take steps in advance to allow you to keep the ability to downgrade because Apple does block this off as they release new OS versions.

You simply need to take care with what you install from Cydia, most items work fine but there are some that are poorly packaged or poorly written.
