Default New to website, I need help updating/unlocking

Hi, I have a 3g iphone (8g, model# mb702LL, firmware:02.30.03) and I would like to update it to a firmware that is easy to unlock.

Or alternately unlock my current firmware.

My question is: what is the most common way, and custom firmware that I can update to safely, to unlock my phone?

You actually need to upgrade your baseband once to be able to unlock.

There has never been an unlock that supports your specific baseband, and there is generally no way to downgrade your baseband.

    I would recommend the following:

    1. Shift-click restore (alt-click on mac) to stock iOS 3.0 http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/22056.htm#post333896 (iOS 3.0 download)
    2. Jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.2 redsn0w 0.9.2 [iPhone Dev Team] (download) iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3G on OS 3.0.x Using RedSn0w (Mac) (procedure)
    3. Use pwnagetool 3.1.5 to make a custom IPSW for iOS 3.1.3 http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/22056.htm#post333896 (iOS 3.1.3 download) iClarified - iPhone - How to Jailbreak Your iPhone 3G on OS 3.1.3 Using PwnageTool (Mac) (procedure)
    4. Shift-click and restore that custom IPSW
    5. Launch Cydia, let it auto update
    6. Launch Cydia again and Install ultrasn0w to unlock http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4253 (procedure)

ok, I'm going through the steps, right now I'm unlocked on 3.0(7a341) / fimrware 04.26.08

But, I have a Pc, so pwnage tool doesn't work, I tried to use sn0wbreeze to make a custom firmware, but I keep getting an iphone error in itunes.

    What should I do now?

P.s. when I tried to add repo666.com as a source it crashed cydia; and now cydia is completely empty. And their is no openSSh option.

We don't support sn0wbreeze or anything from ih8sn0w on this forum, there are various historical reasons for this that I have explained here before.

You can try this: technique Preventing baseband update as a last-ditch effort [iPhone Dev Team] to go to 3.1.3 without upgrading baseband. Then Jailbreak with redsn0w 0.9.2 and a 3.1.2 IPSW

This technique does NOT work for iOS 4.0 or higher.
