I'm not 100% sure it is heat related (or even hardware). There is very little information on this specific error out there on the net.

Try to see if you can use wifi from within an app. One of the wifi scanner apps maybe.

Try to leave the device off and in a cool place for a while, then start it up (not connected to power) and see if you can connect to wifi. Some people have even tried putting it in a plastic bag and freezing it. I don't really recommend this as it can create other problems.

hey i tried using Wififofum app from Cydia.. and it shows all the wifis around me.. and even connects.. but with a less than decent strength. at least its working for now. sadly, everytime i need to connect to the wifi, i need to manually start the app. the phone will not automatically connect to the wifi.

This is a generic scan request fail. If wifi still works(like in third party apps) but only scans don't, this is probably the error. No idea what causes this. Card appears to get a mac address, but wifi doesn't always work.
This should NOT be a hardware issue, but there is no known fix for it.
