OK great, Ive done all that and am using Fugu to SSH into my phone, however I cant find a file that may be the SMS.db file?

Is Fugu appropriate, or will another app see other files that this may not?

Thanks again for all your help.

OK, worked it out, and can now access the file... however Im not sure of SQLlites ability to edit the data table... seems I can export, import but not edit the data within a particular table...

Is there something that is a bit more powerful for editing?

The command line tool can edit data in a particular table. You just need to learn how to use SQL syntax.

There are GUI based tools to edit SQLlite3 databases on mac or windows.

Looks like this is damn near impossible... have pulled an SMS.db file... edited it... ever so slightly... I mean by changing a single character is one single sms, re uploaded... and then it will not open the SMS.db file??

There has to be a way around this yes? Its only 0's and 1's... its driving me nuts!

It is a relational database. You need to use the right tools. You cannot just edit the raw file with a text editor expect to get somewhere.

You really need a moderate understanding of SQL and relationaldatabase concepts. I would suggest you do some reading first.
