    Default MMS - Anyone Got It Working

    I got the iPhone 3G v3.0 up and running (DO NOT PM ME FOR IT).

    I can't seem to get a picture message to actually send. I looked through the settings to see if I can get the MMS APN info setup or whatever but can't get it to actually send a message. I get the red exclamation point error.

    I'm not going to ask you where to get it but I'm curious: are you on the developer program or were you able to install it somehow?

    As for the MMS, I'm assuming it's not ready for prime time yet.

    Default Call AT&T

    I had the same issue, so I placed a call to AT&T. All iPhone accounts have a block placed on them for MMS since the phone can't receive them. I was told that a plan was in place for them to remove said block for users of the beta firmware. However, they were unable to remove it as of now. I was told to call back soon so that they could remove the block and allow me to test the new MMS feature once they have everything worked out on their end.

    phone them and tell them you've put the sim card in a nokia n95 as your iphone is broken, they'll enable mms on your account then.

    thats what I did with o2 in the UK. Simples.

    I'm in Italy with Vodafone..
    MMS function is not enabled, i've checked the log in Xcode and seems there isn't any MMSC configuration. Also when sending SMS autoconf it doesn't accept the WAP Push..

    Waiting to devforums be back to ask there

    The easiest way is to stuck your SIM into a phone actually supporting MMS and send one. The automatic system of your provider will set your SIM to MMS mode.. Thats what we usually do here in germany.

    In the US, AT&T isn't aware yet. I was one the phone for 1 hour explaining it to tier 2 technical support. I would assume it'll be about a week for them to get with it.

    Provisioning for MMS uses the same method as other carrier dependent options of the iPhone: it's done with the proper carrier bundle.

    So for MMS to work 2 things are required: proper setup at the mobile operator level for your account, meaning: your account is required to support MMS, and the proper settings inside the carrier bundle for your operator.

    jailbreaking is not required to replace the carrier bundle, so the hard task is to get the current beta carrier bundle for your operator and adjust it. On the worst case, use the 2.2.1 and just add the new MMS keys to it:

    <key>AllowMMSCEditing</key>
    <string>1</string>
    <key>AllowMMSEditing</key>
    <string>1</string>
    <key>mms_proxy</key>
    <string> ip address of MMS proxy </string>
    <key>mms_proxy_port</key>
    <string> port for MMS proxy service </string>
    <key>mmsc</key>
    <string> complete URL for MMSC (content adaptation) </string>

    The first two allows editing the other ones from the iPhoneOS settings. The rest is the configuration of the MMS services (proxy and content adaptation).

    but how do you tell your iPhone to use the second APN ?
    i need my first one for internet and tethering :-))

    or can i just swap the first with the second one ?

    also how is that mms editing happening?

    i tried your version and even:

    <key>AllowMMSCEditing</key>
    <true/>
    <key>AllowMMSEditing</key>
    <true/>

    neither of those do work :-(

    thank you very much.

    You need to edit the carrie.bundle, repack the ippc making sure the version is bumped up so that iTunes will detect the change, pass it to iTunes, connect the phone, update on the phone, reboot.
