Had this installed and working flawlessly on t-mobile but the battery drain is not bearable. Will not use and do not reccomend using this. After uninstall my battery life is back to normal. I'm using swirlymms2 with absolutely no problems.

    1. Install the Cydia package "ActivateMMS2G" and reboot
    2. Go to help.BenM.at on your iPhone
    3. Go to the second Mobileconfigs link, the one that allows you to create a custom Mobileconfig
    4. Enter your MMS APN (i.e. mms.plusgsm.pl) for both of the APN fields (Mobile Internet and Visual Voicemail) and enable tether. My network requires no username or password, if yours does, you may need to enter those as well.
    5. Press generate, install it, press OK, then reboot RIGHT AWAY. Do not check the settings!!!
    6. Go to settings > General and scroll down to profile. If it says 2 (or more) profiles, delete/uninstall the one(s) that are not called "help.benm.at" (i.e. delete all but the one you just installed). If it only says help.benm.at, skip to step 8.
    7. After deleting the other profiles, go back to help.BenM.at and repeat steps 3-5. The first time you try to install it, it may fail or hang while installing (it did for me anyway) if this happens, press the home button, reopen Safari, then try again, it should work.
    8. Once your iPhone has rebooted, go to Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network. Your MMS APN should be present in every APN field.
    9. Fill in your MMSC and MMS Proxy. Once again, my network has no username or password, so I am not sure if you should add this here or during step 4... Experiment!!
    10. Reboot your iPhone.
    11. Open Messages and try to send an MMS. If it fails, check your settings are correct.
    12. If it is successful, go back to Cellular Data Network and change your Cellular Data APN to the one appropriate for your network.
    13. Test your data connection.
    14. Test your MMS.

This fixed it for me. It seems that the MMS APN can only be the APN included in the Mobileconfig, whereas the data APN can be anything. Let me know how it goes.
Does this hack work with the T-Mobile USA $9.99 Data Plan.

That will work or you could install the T-mobile carrier bundle out of cydia. You need the one that has internet2.voicestream.com apn for data and wap.voicestream.com for MMS with the $9.99 unlimited plan. FYI you will probably not be able to edit the apn after installing the bundle. They guy that wrote it is a bit of a control freak and disabled apn editing. If you poke around there are ways to re-enable it if you want to.

    Hi everyone,

Firstlly apologies if this has been posted, somewhere in the previous 19 pages of this thread.

I have everything working expect MMS, and the ability to store the MMS settings. I'm using O2. Anyone have any suggestions - thanks in advance

I have activated mms through Cydia in my iphone. But if I insert ATT sim it doesn't work at all. ATT is just doing rubbish business with it's clients using some clever tricks.

Do you think this can be adapted for OS3.1? I never updated to 3.0.1 due to this, and even though I (almost) never use it, is always nice to have in case of emergency.

Be careful if you upgrade to 3.1

I just updated to 3.1 and then like a dummy I want and immediately installed the MMS hack from Cydia. My phone seems to be stuck in an endless boot cycle (Apple logo).

Think I need to try and get into DFU mode and restore.

    ** UPDATE **

Just got the phone into DFU (thank god) and am restoring to the custom firmware I made with Pawnage Tool. I really recommend that you don't install the hack from Cydia until there is some confirmation or update. I'm certain it's wait nearly turned my jesus phone into a brick.

Ditto on the horrors of this experience. :-S I ended up restoring twice. I don't know if the latest 3.1 Cydia update helps with this, but I really don't want to try, lol!

Default Specific help needed for MMS on iPhone 2G OS 3.0 with ATT please

I haven't been able to get MMS working on my 8GB iPhone 2G and it's frustrating me. I am running unlocked and jailbroken OS 3.0 with ATT ipcc 6.0 custom carrier file. I installed ActivateMMs2g and I DO have the camera icon and cellura data network tab in settings to edit MMS APN. My cell plan is a FamilyTalk plan with unlimited picture/text messaging (not an iPhone plan). When I try to send an MMS it will do the "sending" and load to about 90% and then fail and give me the red exclamation point. I've tried various APN settings and cannot get anything to work. If I take my SIM out of the iPhone and put it into another phone I CAN send and receive MMS. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I have EDGE turned off vis BossPrefs, but have tried sending MMS with it on and off and neither works. Is anyone in a similar situation since ATT "officially" enabled MMS?
