    Give more information.
How do you define manual backup?
What do you see and get?

    iPhone 4G, 16GB, JailBreak.
(and an old iPhone 2G with broken glass )
    Black iPod 5gen, 30GB.

if you mean sms.db, notes.db etc, then everything works fine - just need to make sure owner/permissions are set correctly (mobile:mobile and 644 if i remember correctly, but might be wrong).

then copy stuff on 3.0 and make sure you open each app (i.e. Notes) after copying before reboot.

Before you replace the .db files manually please make sure that u open the application ateleast once. for example.. if you are trying to replace the sms.db then open the sms application or if possible send one sms, close the application, replace the db, reboot the iphone.

Thats the way i got it to work not sure if opening up the application is needed or not others.

    Thanks

Unhappy Seems to be no answer for this

It seems that no one has the right answer...

    My wife has a 2G 8GB iPhone. unlocked/jailbroken 3.0
    Everything works fine but...

Her notes desapeared in the firmware upgrade 2.2.1 > 3.0

I have a backup of her notes.db on my mac so I restored the file with the proper owner/group (mobile/mobile) and permissions set to 644 and now I see her notes again but I can't edit add/delete them.

I then tried to copy MY iPhone's notes.db file to hers. everything went ok but still can't add, delete or edit the notes.

Now my wife's only wish is to be able to write notes again. She doesn't care about the old notes any more.

    Please someone help us!!

I think you should restore (again), but this time make sure you set phone as "new phone".
