    Default Jailbroken 2G 3.1.3 w/bootneuter

OK, so the other day I decided to jailbreak my iPhone for the hell of it. I accidentally upgraded my 2G iPhone through iTunes to 3.1.3 so I wasn't even sure I would be able to do it. Long story short, I jailbroke it with ultrasn0w. When I modified my *.ipsw file, I told it to include BootNeuter 2.1 in the package. After the successful jailbreak, I neutered my phone. At first I flashed it with these settings:

    4.6
    Neuter: ON
    FakeBlank: ON
    Unlock: ON

    My baseband is: 04.05.04_G

I then put in a T-Mobile Sim to check it out and the phone went into "Emergency Call" only screen and wanted to me to connect it to iTunes. I rebooted the phone and the same thing happened.

Reading up some more on BootNeuter, the "preferred" settings are:

    4.6
    Neuter: ON
    FakeBlank: OFF
    Unlock: ON

SO I re-flashed my phone with those settings and I *think* it worked but I am not sure. When I select the BootNeuter app on my iPhone it does go to those settings now instead of the previous settings I used. I have to get a hold of my friends T-Mobile sim to see if it actually works.

My main question is this... When I put in a SIM from any other carrier, the phone *should* just read the sim just like it reads my AT&T SIM right? I shouldn't have to anything more to it right?

the topic of your thread is wrong
    "Jailbroken 2G 3.1.3 w/ultrasn0w"

you don't need to install ultrasn0w on the 2g.
Bootneuter does the unlock for you.
The settings you have chosen is good enough.
Just put tmobile SIM in and it should pick up the signal.

Like I said, it recognizes the TMobile SIM car but it goes into "Emergency Call ONLY" mode. When I take the sim out and put my AT&T sim back in, it goes back to normal. I am going over my friends house again today and will report back if the changes I made actually worked.

Did you jailbreak and activate via iTunes with a valid AT&T sim inserted? That means you were not hacktivated.. Which is why you can't switch in a t-mobile SIM and have it work.

Restore and try to jailbreak again with the t-mobile SIM inserted.

"Hacktivated?" When I jailbroke my phone, yea I had my vaild AT&T sim in the phone. So you are saying that I have to unjailbreak my phone and then re-jailbreak it with the Tmobile sim in it?

This seems like a pain in the you know what.... Is there a good "jailbreaking for idiots" guide out there? I did not read anything about having a different sim in the phone while doing all this stuff to the phone.

Here is a pic of the screen I get:

As you can see it does recognize the Tmobile sim, but wants connected to iTunes. There is nothing I can do to get around this? I would hate to start all over again.

Also, the whole reason I want this phone unlocked is so that when I go to Italy, I want to use a "rechargable" SIM from over there.

Yes there is a way around this, however that requires some command line work. Basically, you have to patch lockdownd and then any SIM will be accepted.

If you are not interested in playing around at the command line and possibly ending up with a phone that needs to be restored because you missed a step. The simplest way is just to start again... Preferably after you first export your valid push and youtube certificates from the legitimate activation.

As for general rules about jailbreaking. All the current jailbreaking tools support autodetction of activation/hacktivation. So if you have legitimately activated, the jailbreak will assume that you don't require hacktivation. This works for most people but of course it can't suit everyone.

    Default 2g 3.1.3 unlock

    hey,

im new to this stuff so sorry if i make any mistake.

i was playing around with my friends *locked* iphone.
it always showed the emergency screen.

so after reading about 50 different forums i finally used bootneuter but it failed because i used 4.6

i took out my sim and i flashed it on 3.9 without a sim card in it.

it was successful and there you have it.

    EDIT***

i forgot to add, I used sn0wbreeze to modify the FW and you have to have NO sim card and click YES to activate.
if you have an official AT&T sim when you click yes to hacktivating it, it locks up i think. and you can't get past it.

im not sure but that's what i did and it worked

try that and tell me if it works.

The answers to your question are already in this thread.

You need to use a non AT&T sim during the jailbreak.

If you put in an AT&T sim card during the jailbreak, you don't get hacktivated, instead you get activated.

What are you actually trying to do? Use the iPhone 2G on AT&T without paying for an iPhone plan?
