    Default iPhone Restore File Downgrade

I have an old iPhone 2G which I unlocked when i got my 3g.
When I hooked it up to itunes, it created a backup of the iphone. and I upgraded it to 3.0. it automatically synced, and wrote over the backup file. I couldnt get the 3.0 unlock to work properly, so I downgraded it back to 2.0. but, because the restore file was replaced when it upgraded to 3.0, it's not allowing me to restore from that file. So my question is, is there anyway to downgrade that restore file so that it can be used with 2.0 again and I can get all my data back, or anyway to use that backup file to run with the 2.0 firmware? at the moment, i get an error saying that the firmware is very old compared to the backup file and cannot be restoerd... any ideas? yes it was silly of me!!!

There are ways to get the individual files out of the iTunes backup, like iPhoneBackupExtractor (Windows) and mdhelper (Mac). Use search/Google to find more information. They can get the important files out (sms database, call history, address book + pictures) and you can then put them back on your phone with things like iPhoneBrowser/iFunbox/SSH.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).
