iPhone Games and UDID when Jailbreak+Unlock
So I have a iPhone that's still not jailbroken+unlocked and Ive been playing those mafia war like games like 24/7 non stop.
I asked the folks who created such games apparently they follow the UDID identifier code to track profile data.
If i jailbreak and unlock my phone does that UDID number stay the same or does it changes?
and what the heck is UDID?
Re: iPhone Games and UDID when Jailbreak+Unlock
Your UDID does not change even after jailbreak. However I believe there is a program in Cydia that can spoof your UDID.
The UDID is one of the many unique identifiers in your iPhone (IMEI, ECID , MAC address are all also unique)
Apple uses UDID to link iPhones to developer accounts (these can run iPhone beta OS). Also UDID is used by developers if they want you to beta test their app (they can issue test version to up to 100 iPhones)
It is also a useful identifier for app developers to track unique users. This can be used legitimately but also as a method to track and block
piracy. For example if you pirated beejive, the developers could detect this and blacklist your UDID from using this app.
I believe push notifications use this also, especially for iPod touches that only can do push over wifi.
