Default iPhone downgrade to OS 2.2.1 (from 3.0 beta 3) AND w/ baseband 04.20.01

    Hi Guys,

I've been stuck here for the last few weeks. I was stupid enough to upgrade my iphone to OS 3.0 beta 3 and successfully downgraded to OS 2.1.1. However, my baseband is the latest one which is 04.20.01. All features work with the Iphone however I cannot send/receive calls or SMS. I understand that downgrading baseband from 04.20.01 does not exist (let me know if I'm wrong here). Is there any way for me to get SMS/calls working with this baseband on OS 2.1.1?

Let's just say worst case scenario that I can't.. will the official OS 3.0 release fix this issue? I'm hoping that my iphone isn't bricked for life...

Please help me out. Many thanks to those that reply.

    Hi

Only way you may be able to go is if you have the 5.08 bootloader

If you looking in Cydia for an app called fuzzyband it will tell you if you have 5.08 BB or not.

If you don't then at this moment in time you can unlock your device.

I'll check when I get home.. if I don't have the 5.08 bootloader... will the official release of OS 3.0 solve the issue?

At the moment there is no unofficial network unlock for any baseband higher then 02.28.00 (2.2) version.

So your have to keep your finger crossed and hope the Dev Team find something soon for the 3.0 firmware version.

Networks such as Rogers, AT&T would have it network unlocked once 3.0 is an actual official release, correct?

if you have a phone that was factory unlocked then it should, if you unlocked using yellowsn0w then you are SOL until if and when the dev team finds a flaw in the final baseband for 3.0, shouldnt have been as impulsive, there was A LOT of warnings, ESPECIALLY by the time beta 3 was out not to upgrade if unlock was important to you.
