iPhone doesn't reboot after some Rock/Cydia updates
today I had 6 available updates in Rock. I am using a 3GS FW 3.1.2 JBed and Unlocked by blackra1n. I can't completely remember what has been updated exactly. But during the update process I got some strange errors about iphone FW something.. (sorry but I didn't write it down )
Ok after I tried the update process a few times it went through. The respring didn't cause any problems but for some reasons I wanted to restart the phone and after I performed this action my iPhone shows me the apple for about 3-4 seconds before it turns off again! I tried several ways Power + Home etc but without any success.
If I connect the phone to itunes it isn't recognized and I can only make it showing up by bringing it into the recovery mode. But if there is any way I don't want to restore it and begin the whole game from start as there are serveral important things on the phone that haven't been synced!
Does anyone see a possiblilty to try?
First - the recommendations have been very strong - don't use Rock install and use only Cydia

Keeping thread closed, but this is a slightly different issue than the one posted about in the blackra1n post, though the same solution will work.
This is an issue with the package dependencies for the /sbin/Firmware package. When you told it to upgrade, it uninstalled key system tools (diskdev-tools, as i recall) as opposed to replacing them. That said, there is another way to solve the problem than restoring, but it's pretty in depth. Take a read here:
SpaceSpark Studios | Know Your Universe.
That explains what the problem is, and has a pretty decent method of fixing it. If you try and it doesn't work, we won't be able to support it, so your last ditch effort should be the link Oletheros posted.
Also, as Oletheros said, it is highly recommended that you do not use Rock. Situations like this happen much more frequently with Rock due to how it handles (or fails to handle) package dependencies and also how it manages the replacement of key system files. In the future, after your phone is fixed, we recommend using Cydia -- it's a much more reliable package manager for the time being.
