Default iPhone 3G Baseband Problem. No WiFi/IMEI/Bluetooth/ICCID/Modem Firmware

Hello everyone. I'm really stuck on this thing for over a week now, tried any possible combination of .ipsw and then JB it but still can't get things working. It's new years eve and i'm on my bloody iphone trying to sort it out.. First of all what are my chances to get this fixed? I've read some other solutions on the net about using iBrick, but it cant find my iphone. Can someone please give me a link or a sensible solution?

    I'm on a iphone 3G using 3.0 firmware.

Your description doesn't sound good. The type of problems you describe sound very much like a hardware problem.

Specifically if the restore fails with error 23 - then it can't be fixed by software.

    Thanks.

I get a 1002 restore error each time I'm restoring. Using recboot to get out of it each time. I can't get to any firmware other than 3.1.2 and 3.0, as they are the only ones supported by jailbreak software. Otherwise I'll get stuck to the searching or no sim on my iphone due to dysfunctional baseband. According to another forum this was caused after using black rain on 3.1.2. There is a solution provided but i need to get ssh and mobile terminal on my iphone. I can use iphone browser but have no idea how to install mobile terminal and ssh in order to go on with the solution provided on that forum. In a nutshell, i believe the baseband got screwed up and i need to reinstall it somehow..

    Any help is vastly appreciated!!

i'm now in the process of trying to figure out the iphone_tunnel hack..

I'm not 100% sure (it's not as common an error as 23) but I think that 1002 is an error that can't be fixed by software.

Error 23, 28, 29, 40, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1611: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article and also attempt to restore while connected with a known-good 30-pin Dock Connector cable, computer, and network to isolate this issue to the device. If the MAC address is missing or the IMEI is the default value (00 499901 064000 0), this can also confirm a hardware issue.

. What jailbreak software are you using? My guess is redsn0w.

If this is true (and I doubt it in your specific case) it's actually the blacksn0w unlock that would be responsible not blackra1n.

This has worked for some blacksn0w related baseband issues, but I am skeptical it will work in your specific case

iphone_tunnel is not very good - you need to have specific versions of iTunes/mobile device dll to get it to work.

I use this: iphonetunnel-usbmuxconnectbyport - Project Hosting on Google Code

You can't link to an article that offers download links to iPhone baseband. It is illegal to share iPhone baseband - these are copyrighted Apple binary files. We are very strict about this here on hackint0sh.

The only legal way is to decrypt and extract these files yourself from the update or restore ramdisk files that are a key part of each IPSW. I have documented this procedure in another thread

    Thanks..

I used redsnow for 3.0 and blackrain for 3.1.2. I'm really stuck and don't really know what to do tbh.. Are you aware of the steps that i should take in order to trouble shoot this problem?

I really don't know what else to do. If there is a chance to get things back and working, why not?

Basically there's a 99% chance that it won't work. But if if does work it isn't something you want and you can't reverse it.

So. Back to your original plan.

Restore to 3.1.2 (original) Forget blackra1n use redsn0w 0.9.2 or 0.9.4 (best to use 0.9.2)

    That should get Cydia installed.

You don't need to launch Cydia

Then you need to download a copy of the deb package for mobile terminal and also get a afc2 client (iPhone Browser for example) as well
