Blackra1n only works with an iPhone in recovery mode (or normal mode). So don't think this is actually the fix for this problem.

Default No wifi the last three days

Hi, I have the problem as you and I am frantically searching the Internet for a solution. Somehow I started to believe that it is hardware related. Draining the battery for the iphone totally and putting it in the freezer fixed the wifi for 10 minutes. In some other newsgroup I saw that one guy thought it is the soldering of the wifi/bluetooth chip. Any comments on that? I am getting close to open it up and check.

I really would not recommend such drastic actions, can you not claim warranty on the device and get it replaced instead?

Ok guys listen up based on my observation after i updated 2 iphone 3G using itunes latest programs 9.0.2 i lost my wifi and it look's like they inject another F@cKing strings to kick of the network after jailbreaking. I believe that itunes is aware of Blackra1n and they are tracking all the activities of Geo. I prefer not to update ur iphones ipsw from itunes Server or else it will f@ck up your baseband.theoretically speaking itunes are not dumb people they are CRUEL AND GREEEEDYY!! No body told us that they inject sumthin but nevertheless devteam will sort things out soon

BEWARE!!!! Do not update your iphones thru itunes server only use the custom ipsw or download it from iClarified - Apple News and Tutorials.

Provide evidence via a USB trace or gdb or whatever technique you used to discover iTunes is supposedly malicious.

Otherwise your rant is just that.

Default iphone 3g, reheated wifi chip

    Hi,
Just an update. Yesterday I got sick enough of my iphone not being able to log into wifi networks. I opened it up and heated the wifi chip with a fairly unsophisticated soldering iron. I know that every engineer will tell me now that you cannot and you should not try to work on BGA mounted components on a logic board, in particular, people concerned with process control.

Here just quickly my story. I bought this iphone about six weeks ago through ebay. It was a refurbished iphone 3g 8GB in pristine condition. After jailbraking and unlocking it with ultrasn0w it worked perfectly. Just this week it stopped being able to log into wifi networks but it was still able to see them. After searching the Internet a lot I found some comments that reheating the wifi chip might fix it. Well, there were tons of other proposed fixes and nothing worked in my case. Yesterday I opened the phone up according to instructions found in youtube. The only trouble here was opening the EMF shielding but this worked as well with investing some efforts. The wifi chip is very small and I decided to use my simple Weller 25 W soldering iron. I put some solder on the tip to have some better heat conductivity. After pressing the iron tip on the chip just after a few seconds it felt like the chip moved a little bit closer to the board. I heated some more seconds and reassembled the phone. Since then my wifi works perfectly. At this point I am not claiming that reheating the chip fixed it since perhaps just disconnecting the battery might have an effect on its own. If it keeps working or other people make the same observation the conclusion might be that reheating the wifi chip can fix it. Anyhow, if somebody tries to do the same you do it on your own risk.
