Iphone 2g won't stay asleep
My girlfriend has an iphone 2g, jailbroken running on T-Mobile that doesn't seem to want to stay "asleep".
I'll lock the screen, using the button on the top right of the phone, but it keeps 'waking up' and showing the unlock screen. It does this often enough that its really draining her battery.
I haven't been able to discover any kind of common thread as to why it keeps popping on. I've tried disabling a number of things, such as wi-fi, but no luck.
Is this a common problem? Are there any known fixes?
I've never personally seen this happen but had someone that mentioned a similar situation to me. They had applied one of the full-body stick-on protectors (invisible shield I think was the brand they used), and when they did it, some of the protector plastic material got jammed next to the power button at the top.
It didn't stop the power button from working properly, but it DID cause the power button to be just pressed enough or have just enough friction that it would randomly toggle the screen when the phone was sitting dormant. Removing the invisible shield and reapplying it fixed his problem.
That said, is there any extra play in the power button or home button that you don't see on other devices? It could be a hardware issue in which case Apple should replace under warranty.
