I don't know, I came across a 5 step thing taking me to cydia and installing a source that ended up having me add "iPhone 2G: Tethering, MMS, bluetooth profile" (I'm thinking this is the one you were talking about), rebooted, now i have ability to add photos, but it isn't actually sending.
It is possible that is the same/similar. The link you mentioned is a patch from aviegas, but I know he and dborca were co-operating on this.

I was specifically talking about this patch http://www.hackint0sh.org/f207/76038-17.htm#post474468 - which you won't find in Cydia, you have to apply it manually.

Regardless - the patch you installed from Cydia is not always the complete solution. If your carrier is not an official iPhone carrier you need to configure your carrier specific MMS settings. This is usually done via creating a custon IPCC see Carrier Bundle Generator iPhone OS 3.0 - 3.1.2 (ipcc)

Thanks you for that. Very helpful, but I'm not seeing the same menu in the field app mode as described on the carrier bundle link you offered, but I think I was able to see that the carrier was att 5.5. did some reading and saw something about 5.6 don't know what that is about. I'm not sure how to create a carrier bundle but I'm going to be googling that later, then I'm hoping to try to add it.

Thanks you for your help so far

Ahh you are with AT&T, that makes things more difficult. (AT&T are the problem here)

You need to get a newer carrier bundle from Apple/AT&T that has the correct settings, don't make your own.

Plus, I you might also need to contact AT&T and get MMS enabled on your account.

ahh, good thing I put this on hold for a few days lol. I've had this prepaid account for over a year but I was using a $10 Nokia. It was able to receive mms and I could send it so will that make it easier or won't make a difference? As far as calling AT&T, I'm under the impression that they won't help if I'm using an iPhone.

If you are not on a legit iPhone plan and your sim can do MMS then you don't need to contact AT&T about enabling MMS

You just need the newer carrier bundle from At&t. As well as the mms/tethering patches

Search the forums you are not the first person to want to set this up on a 2G

Yeah, I figured that I'm not the only one who has tried to make this work. I'll keep looking through the forums though. I really appriciate your assistance. I'm still trying to comprehend a lot that is going on with this phone. This should be fun.

    Hello

I never got this to work.I found a place that downloaded something that was supposed to help make this work, APN Carrier settings from unlockit.com, but all it did was set up tethering and I have an added menu option in Setup -> General -> Profile with nothing able to modify. I do have the ability to add a pic to a message, but it never sends and gives me an error. I even tried to install that swirly app, but it would not install. I can't remember what the error was, and I'm not iPhone smart enough to really know what I am doing. I've put the project on hold for the time being, hoping to either figure it out later or someone stumbling on and I catch it in the posts. I tried searching through here, but so far I have not had any luck with my situation. I'm still doing research when I can.

You are probably on an unsupported carrier, and need to use Carrier Bundle Generator iPhone OS 3.0 - 3.1.2 (ipcc) to create and install an ipcc.

    Hi Olethros,

I got the impression that the link you provide would not work for me since I on AT&T prepaid. That'd why I did not use that to create the Carrier Bundle. I still don't know what I am doing with this thing lol. I'll give it a try though. Should I disengage the one I tried to have installed from unlockit.com is what I am wondering right now or should it work with each other?

    Thanks
