doesn't appear to be working for me. can't see the picture icon when composing a new message, and my settings never stick -- i.e. when i enter the apn for t-mobile, it gets erased as soon as i exit settings. all the time. any ideas?

    Hi guys,

I just wanted to ask if you experienced some battery drainage with this hack. I used activate mms or whatever was the name for 3.0 in Cydia and my battery was draining very fast and decided to remove it and never tried it again.

    Thanks.

I CONFIRM this is working on iPhone OS 3.1(.0).

Yah - seems like battery life is still a problem.

Make sure you enter the APN in under Cellular Data and MMS.

Same for me. After applying all the changes and restarting, the picture icon was still missing and the APN for MMS got erased.

After another clean reboot (this time not using SBSettings, but turning the iPhone off and on again), the picture icon was visible, but the APN still got erased.

I lost over 10% battery within one hour, the phone simply lying on the table.

Guess I'll disable MMS again for now, I didn't plan to use it anyway because it's rather expensive here.

The integrated MMS is so much better than the Swirly interface- but the battery drain still can't justify it. I will be sticking with SwirlyMMS until the hack is better optimized. Keep up the good work guys!

    Hi Guys,

Sorry for not getting back sooner.

Having just finished 18 hour day I have now run out of time to upgrade my own phone! again!

The two main points (besides people being spoons) seem to be:

    1. Settings not sticking
    2. Battery life

Under 3.0 I did not notice much of a battery loss (but to be fair I charge my 2G every day as it gets so much hammer) but I did notice settings not always saving.

The battery life issue will need a lot more investigation as the patches to CommCenter should have in no way affected this (unless the nature of MMS functionality is just to wait for a message and since 3g/3gs users know no different then there wont be much I can do) as for the settings, Im pretty sure I know where this is in CommCenter that does the dirty work and can look soon.

I am going to tidy up the patch a bit more too (already replaced geniusan's string patches for patching conditional branches but would like to trace further up the functions and see where the registers are set for those brances) and if I get time whilst poking, also have a peek at tethering for the 2G (as useless as it would be).

I don't mind this going to Cydia if anyone wants to put it there, just please put beta in the title and make sure it can ONLY be installed on 3.1.2 (I appreciate it may seem to work on other builds, but I do not want to be associated with badly working patches).

I also have a 2 byte patch for installd as I didn't like the idea of using installd from 3.1.0.

AND FINALLY - can people please stop PM'ing me with stupid questions, its getting rather annoying now, please just post your problem in this thread and those with more time/patience can help you.
