Does AT&T have to do something on their side to make this thing work? I've read about having to call and make up stories so they will provision the SIM card for MMS.
    Well...
    1. your SIM needs to be provisioned
    2. you should have a data plan which you should with an IPhone

Yeah, but my concern is that AT&T has some sort of MMS block on it because they know I have a 2G iPhone.

I think you are right...some else posted this as well. This is what he said

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know, that I got the MMS working on AT&T for about a day, and then they caught on, if they sense that you are using an iPhone 2G they put the opt-out code back onto your account.

Seems I, too, am having problems getting the settings to "stay". The above directions don't seem to be working. I did double check the carrier.plist and the values are actually there too.

make sure the apn settings are populated.....I populated all the 3 instances where they are mentioned.....the remaining are already there......

once you do that...reset the settings...which should load up the settings under CDN from the file......except for APN

then try and enter APN and then it should stick.....

I am out of the night but give it a try and we can take this up again tomorrow.....

Swirly can send with same settings

    Any other ideas? Thanks
    Ok, thats weird.

I get a red ! but the mms are actually sent

I got the settings to stick, but even then I'm still unable to send/receive.

    ---

I'm giving up on this - I just don't think it's gonna happen with the 2G iPhone on AT&T.

It will work. If the settings are sticking but it isnt sending/receiving, then it seems you are just using the wrong settings.

If I write the same apn in ALL entries of carriers.plist (and reset settings, reboot, etc.), it does stick.

Otherwise with a different apn for data, voicemail and/or mms, even with all above instructions (write in carriers.plist, reset settings, reboot, etc.), apn does not stick.

Carrier is Swisscom and apn is gprs.swisscom.ch

    Default No go here...

I've been working on this since the first patched CommCenter was put up, and here's what I've found so far...

Editing the M68AP.plist file seems to enable cosmetic changes only. I get the camera icon and MMS options available, and they seem to be complete and functioning.

Editing carrier.plist will enable the "Cellular Data Network" option in SysPrefs. Nothing I do here seems to stick, regardless of order or number of "resets", reboots, etc. I can, however, hand edit the file to populate the proper fields, and once I do that...

Everything *seems* like it's working as it should. Until I send a MMS...same as before, 9/10ths progress bar for several seconds before failure.

Here are my specifics (see if we can narrow this down):
    Original 8GB iPhone 2g
Family TXT plan (previously on 2 iPhones + 1 LG Slider -- Slider has been upgraded to iPhone, family plan remains)
stock AT&T SIM in all 3 phones (though the newest iPhone is using the slider's SIM...I may play with it and see what I get)

I may play with my kid's SIM to see if the MMS provisioning stuck through the SIM transplant to her iPhone, but as of now this appears to be a no go on my SIM/iPhone.
