    iPhone 2G - 3.1.2 - MMS Patch

This is a patch for CommCenter from iPhone OS 3.1.2 running on the iPhone 2G Device.

This was originally a like-for-like patch updated from geniusan's original work for 3.0, this has now been streamlined into a 1 Byte patch (+resigning).

This would not have been possible without the original work of geniusan.

    Installation:
    1. Unzip Archive
    2. Copy CommCenter to iPhone (via scp/afp)
    3. Backup Original CommCenter
    4. Move our patched CommCenter
    5. Set Permissions
    6. Convert M68AP.plist to XML
    7. Insert a true value for MMS under capabilities.
    Code:
                    <key>microphone</key>
                    <true/>
                    <key>mms</key>
                    <true/>
                    <key>opengles-1</key>
                    <true/>
    8. Reboot!

    Cheat Sheet:
    Code:
    mv /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/CommCenter /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/CommCenter.orig

    chown root:wheel Commcenter

    chmod 755 CommCenter

    mv CommCenter /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/

    plutil -convert xml1 /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/M68AP.plist
    Download:
    Code:
    hxxp://YOU-CAN-GUESS-WHERE/files/296158280/CommCenter_312_RLS2_WR.zip
    Patch Notes:
    Code:
    hxxp://pastebin.com/f394b41d
    Issues:
This patch has been confirmed by numerous users as working - should it not for you please double check the installation steps and make sure you have correct APN settings and that these settings are sticking. (also make sure your SIM has MMS provisioned) - You may need to edit the Carrier bundle yourself if the settings do not stick.

Should you happen to get stuck at the Apple logo, then you need to pay more attention in future!
This will most likely be because you did not chmod CommCenter after copying it.

    i have a jailbroken iphone 2g running 3.1.2.
    did everything like you said.

i do NOT get an option in general/network/cellular data network

i really would like to use mms.
i try to send a picture and it goes almost to the end... then i get the "!"

    thanks!
    and wonderful patch!
some people are complaining, but in the end, it'll be great!
If you are not getting the mms option under CDN...then you have edited your M68AP.plist file.

I asked a question before but it seems like these forums are acting up (posts disappearing, keep getting logged out, etc).

So I will come right out and ask it plain and simple because I know a lot of others are wondering as well: Has anyone had success with this on AT&T? Someone posted a YouTube video before saying they had in fact got it working, but had to edit the APN settings. How did you edit these settings and what did you change them to? There seems to be no obvious way to do this on AT&T 3.1.2 jailbroken iPhones.

Does the iPhone need to be 'unlocked' in order to access the Cellular Data Network section in the settings?

    There sure is.....
    download the files from hxxp://tinyurl.com/yzx3oph

    1. use the commcenter file that whiterat provided here since it is a newer one than this
    2. use the M68AP.plist files from the link above
    3. use Ipodrobot to edit the files in windows....
    4. edit the carrier.plist (look for apn) and edit the apn in it
    5. copy all of them to their respective folders and reboot you Iphone
    6. go inside cellular data network and click reset settings and let it load again
    7. now enter your apn settings and it should stay

OK - I now have the Cellular Data Network options in Settings. APN information looks correct but still no luck in sending/receiving. Does AT&T have to do something on their side to make this thing work? I've read about having to call and make up stories so they will provision the SIM card for MMS.

No...as long as it is jailbroken it should work fine...

    2. edit the carrier.plist (look for apn) and edit the apn in it, it should already have the MMS proxy and MMSC filled in.....
    3. copy it to the respective folder and reboot you Iphone
