Default Success with 2G iphone on t-mobilw with redsn0w

It also worked for me! I now have everything working on my 2G iphone on t-mobile, including maps location and youtube.

In order to get it working I had to restore (shift-restore in windows itunes) to the original 3.0 firmware. Then unlocked it with redsn0w, using the same firmware. itunes restored all my original settings, apps, etc.

    Thanks dev team!

Followed your instructions, and can happily report that after a clean restore + redsn0w I also got both youtube and maps running. Thank you all, as well as Dev Team.

Yeah, PUSH seems to be botched with hactivated phones. I keep getting that "Connect to iTunes" bulls*** message. Sigh...PUSH is finally here and I can't use it with Beejives IM

i read on another forum someone claiming that unless you activate IN iTunes w/ an AT&T sim card, PUSH will never work. so for us Tmobile people, using redsn0w or pwnage or whatever are we pretty much screwed? or any way around this?

    Hi

had the same issue with the location services on my 1st gen iPhone. I'm resident in Spain and using Vodafone network SIM card.
I updated from 2.2.0 jailbroken to 3.0 then did redsn0w jailbreak+unlock, and google maps would only show my location if connected over wi-fi.

Then I did a phone shift+restore using the downloaded apple firmware for 3.0, which wiped out all phone settings, then redsn0w again, and the phone was jailbroken and unlocked. After entering the APN details for Vodafone Spain, I was able to determine my location over GPRS with google maps.

Then, I restored the phone setting from the last backup and was able to get back all mail, contacts, etc.

    Hope it helps!!

I used PwnageTool 3.0 to jailbreak my 1st gen iPhone for use with T-Mobile in the USA. Location services, MobileMe's Locate my iPhone feature, and YouTube all work.

Any other ideas on how to get YouTube and Google location working on a 2G running T-Mobile?

    Default redsn0w works

i can confirm that the shift+restore to 3.0 and then redsnow afterwards works perfectly. i am using youtube and the location services right now and they work great. and this is all on 2g of course cuz this is the 2g forum.... i ran redsn0w in administrator mode as well as in xp service pack 2 compatibility mode, and i think that solved a lot of the problems some people were having. and yes i am using vista.

during the jailbreak process, redsn0w encountered an error in vista and it quit on me, so my first thought was " OMFG BRICK" but i just restarted my iphone and then ran redsn0w again and it worked fine the second time around so that was a relief, needless to say. when 3.0 came out i read about how much trouble people were having especially with 2g so i thought f*ck it im not gonna upgrade at all. i was extremely worried about upgrading but it works now so great job, redsn0w devs
